Can't imagine that's very sturdy.    :-\

What's the weight limit? 20lbs.

He's 168, & that is a very explosive race distance.

People say the same about the (Frail) trellis' on our bikes.  And no... I don't recommend doing this to steel.

Aluminium is a beautiful thing.

Glad you liked it   [cheeky]

Edit: Pleasure to meet you, whoever you are.  :)

I didn't say I didn't like it. It really is beautiful.

Quite amazing how strong aluminum can be!

Pleasure to meet you as well.   [thumbsup]

At some point.. Somewhere (internet most likely)  I've seen something of this nature before.  Very interesting design and concept.  I can't see it being more functional than a nice blade shaped CF frame.  It definitely goes to show what some engineering can get done though!

I posted the pic of the road frame before, will try to post it again when I have time.

This was all about engineering.   I have ridden nothing but carbon race bikes in the past 5yrs. & Nothing...Nothing compares, Period.

I like bicycles.

I think I might break it by sitting on it.

Thanks DucMouse. Can't say I'll be posting here all the time, I'm in LA, but I will try to pop in and say hi as much as I can. Besides I got to become friends with Duc-Stew before he headed back out your direction so I'm sure I'll be around a little.

That's a whole lot of carbon fiber! Bet it feels more like you're flying than riding, especially at 13lbs!   [thumbsup]

If it had wings, I think it would lift off. The bike & I together weigh 159

Fresh Pants, You & I combined weigh less than most guys, we'd have to take it for a ride, go back home & back over it in a car to break it. [laugh]
That proto bike is a no go though, based on a the seatpost alone

I have been riding bmx since I learned to ride on two wheels, and still ride a bit. However, I have always wanted one of these:

A bit older, but I have something slightly similar (yet very different).

I've always loved the down hill bikes but I love going uphill almost as much so I had to settle for something more in between. I can't seem to find any pics but I have an old Gary Fisher Tassajara that I've knocked down to somewhere around 20lbs.

I'm an X-Country guy for sure.  Never was much of a down hill "Bouncy bike" guy, even though I've raced it many times, it's not my cup-o-tea.

I'll see if I have some vids of my lack of downhill........... uuuuhm.........talent / someone call 911  [laugh]

My last geared XC bike before I decided, "Geared bikes suck".

:) the DH bike is fun, but is probably the least ridden of all the bikes I own.
I'd say the most ridden is my fixie conversion, then a singlespeed hardtail mtb, then a double bouncy Santa Cruz Heckler for the other times. And then... there's about 4 other bikes wanting to be ridden too.  [laugh]

Not including motorcycles.

A couple fancy bikes I found on another forum.  Are they good?  I can only assume so.  If nothing else, they look pretty cool!
