Yep! its fouled! (dry soot....too much fuel ?) Vert cyl plug is good. My options.......
In the ol' days you could lean out that cyl with a twist of a screwdriver
So now. how do we do that with everything running off a cpu ?
Any physical adjustments to correct, or is it more $$$$$$$ at the dealership ( 1 1/2 hrs away.)
Any info would be greatly appreciated !!!
are you running a PCIII? If so, perhaps the advance map for the cylinders is incorrect. Is it oil fouled? Id look at valve guides if thats the case. oops, i just re-read.. you said dry soot which is fuel
Thanks for the reply . I have Temi pipes, with DP CPU.
Are there adjustments on the CPU that dont require another computor to check my computor?
I was hoping (dreaming !) that a simple screwdriver adjustment would suffice to cut down fuel flow to that cyl, as the vertical cyl is OK.
I mentioned " CPU"................Ment to say ECU !!!
I haven't done it myself, but I understand you can still balance the throttle bodies, using a manometer and adjusting the relative angle of the butterflys.
All nicely mechanical :)
How was the bike running? Did you pull the plugs right after start up or did you ride the bike for a while first? Have you looked for vacuum leaks?
Bike was running a bit rough, and it happened rather suddenly, over a period of a couple of days, thats why I pulled the plugs.
Looking into new plugs, and the plug #'s have changed ????
NGK's DCPR8E was what was pulled (and recomended) but the local 'Plug Shop' sold me DPR9EA-9, a completly different NGK........ replacement?
I suspect that this is a different heat range, and am reserching with NGK to find out if the replacement is a legitimate one ??? Not installing the new plugs till I find out.
Will check that cyl for a vacume leak ASAP. Thanks for that!
Is there any way to manualy adj the fuel to that cyl ?? (without the dreaded dealer computor thing?)
That is a colder plug and will be more likely to foul. The reach is also slightly different.
Other than the air bleeds, which mostly affect idle, there is no mechanical adjustment. Unless that adjustment is ridiculously off it is not your problem.
