Wow great job. Love the paint. Any performance mods? Suspension? It'll look new but its not going to ride any different without some performance mods.

lookin to do some engine/suspension work after this.  new front forks and possibly a few hp grabbing tweaks but essentially this phase was mostly aesthetic.  pretty happy with performance and i don't race so  . ..

post up when you get those grips on. I have them and install was HORRIBLE but im willing to believe it was me not them.

I had the apex bars put on my 696 last week. So far, so good! I wasn't happy with the initial body position, but after a bit of tweaking, I've found a 'sweet spot' where I'm super comfy and very much in-control.

I can't say how durable they are, but they are certainly ridiculously adjustable. If you can't find a good body position with these bars, then you can't find one period.

Nick (speeddog) is a ninja.  I've also got a new shorty dp front fender I'm gonna anodize and throw on then start blackin out the engine casing once I rob a liquor store for some more funding . . . also, I'M ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR SOME AFTERMARKET WHEELS BUT CANT FIND ANYTHING FOR THIS BIKE.  keep me in mind if you come across something that will fit her.  looking for either a 5 - spoke marchesini type deal or perhaps even the old-school metal spoke sport classic vibe.  thanks for all the kind words and I'll keep posting as I waste more money.

nasty nick over at valley ducati (speeddog here on forum) fashioned up some custom made brackets that, honestly, look like something that woulda come stock on the bike.

i gotta be honest. . . i was sitting at speeddog's shop (valley ducati) all morning with him staring at them and admiring the fact that for gold wheels they really hit the color on the head.  not too blingy and not too yellow.  BUUUT, i think they would look retarded on my bike in this color.  next, ask me how much i got em for  [laugh]

I don't even want to know.

Great find. Should look killer, even if you do cover up that tasty gold finish.

How close does it match the clutch plate?  If it matches go for it.  If you have a way of mounting tires cheap why not throw them on, check it out.  If you don't like it you can always take them off and paint them then.

I'm going to do a black chrome coat on mine when i actually put my money where my mouth is and tear the bike apart.

Comparison, gold front wheel vs OEM wheel.

The wheels are actually a good bit 'brighter' than the pressure plate.

Lose the side covers too. No need for them to hide your beautiful frame

Make the frame gold as well and you will lose any doubt about what color the wheels should be...

Either way, those wheels have a beautiful design and should stand out. Painting them black would make them loose a bit of the attention they truly deserve.

Ducati calls it a Rear lower mudguard, it's an OEM piece.

Gotta take it off, it's aggravating in the photos but normally it's not very noticeable.

So I change my vote and say either change to a color and have your pressure plate colored the same.  Or change the wheels to match the frame.

yep.  we're back to operation stealth.  after seeing the wheel mounted (and agreeing with ALL of you that it is a gorgeous wheel) i just am not feeling the color in relation to the rest of the bike.  just not me.

I'm too conservative to go with the gold rims. Be careful though, you don't want your bike to be all black. You need some contrast. You already have black bike with black exhaust, forks & headlight. Maybe the new wheels should be silver to match the frame.

Maybe you could try a black and silver combination like these.

in American-speak, "gay" no longer really means "homosexual" it just means something different.  I am not sure what.

South Park did a whole episode on it.

OK, thx.

Wikipedia:
Quote
among younger speakers, has a derisive meaning equivalent to rubbish or stupid (as in "That's so gay."). In this use, the word does not mean "homosexual", so it can be used, for example, to refer to an inanimate object or abstract concept of which one disapproves. This usage can also refer to weakness or unmanliness. When used in this way, the extent to which it still retains connotations of homosexuality has been debated.

whoops, did i just show my age? :P i guess the proper spelling for it is "ghey". But i meant that the frame with sparkles on it blows, and by blow, i dont mean coke or oral sex. It looks like fantastical crap. Why is it like that? Im not so sure. The GT1000 and the 999 got the shiny gloss black frame. why couldnt the monsters get that too?

What if a girl really is named Nancy and she is indeed a homosexual?
