Should I?
I don't think you're at the age of driving a Buick yet, are you?!
;)
Yes. You'll get more $ for the Buick (there are Reatta freaks out there....) than you would for the dirtbike. Then, put the $ towards mods and/or booze. ;D

and it isn't gold colored
is there anything wrong with the car?
other then the headlights being stuck.

Minor things; it needs a tuneup, the sunroof has a broken linkage, and it has a small ding above the right rear wheel arch.
The bike needs an oil change, and keeps blowing headlight bulbs.
How much are you looking to get for the XL? My boy is starting to get pissed about how much Im riding his xr 70....
seems a pretty sweet deal. It'd make the beast with two backs with that.
can you jump the reatta in the woods without doing quite a bit of damage?

Quite correct, unless...
Car ownership = 0, and probability of rain > or = 50% then car > bike
I Would still keep the XL though. Buy a crap car off CL for poor weather
I'd trade, just for the sheer oddity of the Reatta.

One of the main reasons I'm even considering the trade is the fact that there are no woods or trails within 40 miles of me. I would have to take it to an offroad park and pay to ride their trails, or down to the outer banks to ride on the beach. I also have a 2002 DRZ-400 in the garage which hasn't been ridden in 6 months.

for 7 years i haven't needed a car through all weather. it's a mindset. good rain gear pays for itself

in that case i'd make the trade. the DRZ will be easier to handle offroad anyways.
Riattas have special interest value? I'll be damned. Unless you are talking about the original (1940). I think I would rather own a Rambler.

It IS kind of a weird car. I've done a little research, and it was basically a hand-built, two seat version of the Regal that was offered for four years at a price that would almost have bought a 911(I'd trade for a 911 in a heartbeat, but no one's offered. :P ). I'm both intrigued and scared that it has a touchscreen to control radio, climate control, and ancillary gauges, computer diagnostics, and a digital dash. If it ever has electrical problems, I might as well junk it.
Thanks for all the input. I think I'm going to make the trade.

A college buddy of mine had a Rambler and it was only four years old.
Here's what you do Buick-Boy:
Make the trade.

Ha! Go to Michigan and see just how much of an "oddity" they are. You'll see residents still driving those, Fieros and even Pontiac's biggest mistake..the Aztec. They're all still on the road.
That is..if they're aren't rusted out. A little bondo takes care of that though! ;)

the Aztec was more than a mistake...it was a bad omen,
a harbinger of things to come for the US auto industry...
to the untrained eye it was merely a visual abomination...
to those more perceptive it was "The" sign of doom
a veritable crow perched on your kitchen window sill cawing
a hat or shoe on the bed
a bat in the house
curdled milk from the cow's udder

My cousin was still driving the tweety bird yellow Aztec last summer. :-[
She offered me a ride in it but I declined and walked the mile and half home.

Dammit! Forgot about the Yugo!! We used to turn my HS wrestling coach's Yugo 90 degrees in the the parking space on a weekly basis!
Renault Fuego; it can only jump a railroad crossing once.

You don't have to go as far as Michigan -- I'm pretty certain that at least half the world's stock of Aztecs are right up the hill from you, here in Prescott. And because it's Arizona, they won't rust out for a few generations...
I'm with D-Stu and others -- make the trade, sell the Buick, consider it found money.

one solid whack and everything spills out of it
Well, it's done.
I'm now the not-so-proud owner of a Buick.
However. . .
My wife, who can have an accident without leaving the driveway, has expressed interest in the car, and since her Chrysler now has body damage on all four corners and both sides, it might be a win-win here.
congrats...here's a wiki link...read-up....it was made with the highest of hopes and aspirations (as was the Edsel)
