Title: superbike rear shock Post by: techno on May 31, 2010, 02:23:43 AM Finally got sick enough of my standard S2R800 shock and got one from a 749. I've seen a few threads about fitting this. My question is about the spring. For those who have done it, did you:
1. Keep the spring that came with the shock. 2. Fit the one from your monster. 3. Buy a new spring. 4. None of the above (and if so, what). Title: Re: superbike rear shock Post by: suzyj on May 31, 2010, 02:33:39 AM The one that comes on a 749 shock is miles too light (70n/mm or thereabouts). You really need something like 90 or 95n/mm. The stock (progressive) spring is pretty soft too - I'm swapping to an Ohlins.

Were you able to achieve the proper sag with the previous setup? If yes, then use the old spring. If not, then try the one from the 749. If you still can't get the correct settings then purchase a new spring of correct rate for your weight. You need to get the right spring depending on your weight. I am 150 and running a 1091-31, i think its a 95 N/mm spring.
