I have come into a bit of extra dosh and pretty much have all the bling on the bike I want so the next step is to change the color of the wheels. My S2R 800 (red w/red frame) has the white ones...perfectly acceptable, but a tad "soft" for my taste. First choice is black, but I'm thinking maybe going for something a little different.
Gold: sort of Euro-trashy, but sharp (and I like the way the SS look with gold frame and wheels)
Bronze: for that 60's Campagnolo magnesium wheel look (looked great on Ferraris)
Red: Red on red on red. Mucho, but macho!
Dark Dark Gray: Kinda gunmetal-gunship gray...dark, without being black
Silver: light gray/silver, matches the other mechanical bits
Yellow: just sayin
Boobeez: it's required
Any examples welcome!!
Red is too much - a Monster can't handle it with red frame and body work as well.
Gold - maybe....
Silver/grey - good idea, but I think it wouldn't be very interesting.
So, for me, black is it. I should have voted boobies, but forgot.
PS
How much extra money? Carbon looks good [evil]
put some spinners on that pregnant dog!
Black and BTW, I can't stand the white rims.
boobeez. always.
Ummm, I usually go with "boobies", but n this case where's the BST/CF option?
black first followed by bronze, but either way boobies!!!!! 8)
I say bronze first....

Your bike has almost the same color combo already.
Black, as a second choice. Naturally.
Gold is nice
Bronze looks too stock, and itsnt poppin
Red on red is nasty.
Dark grey eh. Smoke color? maybe
Silver and yellow... WHAT YOU SMOKING SON!!!!
Id go for Dark matte black, or Something between gold and bronze.
Black rims on a red frame/tank bike with white striping does NOT look good. Carbon or dark gray maybe, but not black.
I agree that black will not look good on a red bike with white stripes.
I painted the white wheels on my red/white S2R1000 silver. I usually like silver wheels on everything,
they looked killer on the red/silver MV agusta brutale... But it sucked on my monster. I wished I had left them white.
Gold would look fantastic - I did gold on my red streetfighter and I love it!
Good luck and post a pic when you get it done. [beer]
Hmm... i forgot about that white stripe... it does mess around with the color scheme. It would go with a black wheeled bike.
But if you removed that white stripe it would look AWESOME.
withit, im clueless,
It is a hard choice because it's the only other item(s) you can paint on your monster.
I went for somewhere between Anodised gold and bronze when I had mine done, although you can't see it well
there is also a 3mm black wheel stripe painted.

Love the bike matty! I assume those are titanium pipes because of the color change but I thought titanium was shinier?
Yep Titanium system, it's reasonably shiny but nowhere near polished stainless so they don't shine in sunlight the same way.
Ahh, just curious. Trying to fill the knowledge banks for later! [evil]
I think the 2-1 set up looks pretty damn wicked on the SSSA!
I have a red/red 696 (no white stripe); my wheels are stock black, going to paint them white. I can't conceive of anyone not enjoying a red/white scheme on an italian bike...
It break's evo's heart ;(
Love the idea of white rims. Hate the time it takes to keep them white. I'm keeping mine black so the brake dust blends in. Thinking about doing a yellow wheel stripe though...
have you tried the configurator (left side of page, above sponsors)?
Thanks for that suggestion Herm! I've been here since September and had no idea!
I'm leaning towards gold/bronze now. Matty's bike looks gorgeous!!
Hey! How about green for that tri-colore look? [laugh]
I voted Gold/Bronze and Dark silver. Red is too much, black is BORING, and white...well...you've already been there, eh?
Gold/Bronze as evidenced in prior photo in this thread
I would not use gold on any other color scheme though

Black and BTW, I can't stand the white rims.
And the first time I saw white I was sold, yeah I spend some time cleaning them, but I wouldn't change them, spend your money on front forks and 320mm disc's and 4 pad calipers
the marchesinis (or was it marvics) of around 1995 came in a raw, cleared mag sort of washed out goldy colour that looked great. the 916 race bikes of 94 and 95 would have had them. i know a customer of ours found an almost identical colour years ago in a spray can, no idea what it was called. that's a great colour, subtle, not too flashy, but very nice.

It was the Marchesinis, and that was the chromate coating they use to protect the magnesium from corroding.
It looks good, but comes off if you look at it crosseyed.
are you going to paint them or get them powdercoated??
I accidentally, spray the rear rotors with Brake Parts Cleaner, Guess What!! ???
I messed up the rear wheel Paint, >:( thats my fault for not reading the warning on the can!
So now my rear wheel has patches where the Brake Cleaner fluid came on contact, and looks horrible , No Good thing is that I had Plans on Painting my wheels white. My bike is Stock Yellow with black rims/, So I want to do A custom white paint on bike except the frame! ;D and also powder coat my rims white, also was thinking on Gun metal paint!
