my father in-law is in the hospital. his throat swelled up and they've knocked him out to insert a breathing tube.
They think he'll be knocked out for a couple of days. Hopefully they can figure out what caused the swelling.... treat it, and revive him without doing and more damage to the guy than necessary. A tracheotomy may have to be performed :(
Our thoughts are with him...
and you.

Hopefully he can pull away without getting the trached!
Big +1 to all the above...
Fingers crossed
my best wishes to your family [thumbsup]
Man I am sorry to hear this.
My grandfather lived with a trach for over 15 years. Sometimes just breathing was extrememly painful.
Hopefully it is something that can fix without one.
I'm pullin for him.
Oh man, may you soon be able to post all is well.
Michelle went to visit with him for awhile last night.
He was out cold. He's 83, so see'n him in a hospital bed knocked out just made him look really old..... that was hard for her to see.
To top things off..... he's had a sore on his arm that would not go away, and all attempts to get him to go see a dermatologist fell on deaf ears...... well doc, while he's out could ya have somebody take a look at that for us? Its cancer.
The old man is falling apart.
They think they'll know what the next step will be later on today...... fingers crossed.
Oh man, Joel. That's really tough. All my best to you, Michelle, and the boys.
I'll be sending some positive juju your way.
Michelles off to visit him this morning. He's awake and grouchy. He wants the tube out and to go home.
Sounds like the nurses want him gone too [laugh]
Sounds like he's improving. :)
Sorry to hear, BP, LM & fam.
Good vibes and thoughts headed your way.

nope..... he's just awake [laugh]
Not that him having health issues is funny.... but him be'n pissy and a grouch is a good sign.
Very scary, Joel -- hope the return to curmudgeony is a good sign!
Get a spray bottle, put a label on it that says NURSE REPELLENT, fill with water and give it to your father in law as a gift. Watch out nurses [evil]
Glad things are looking better.
Michelle says he should be out tomorrow morning.
now..... about this arm thing
