Title: New Austin Rider Post by: ChrisH on June 03, 2010, 03:27:36 AM Posted this in the introductions forum too, but figured the Texas forum would be good as well. I'm stoked to join your ranks.
Just put my down payment on a 696 Monster yesterday. I had to get the Dark, I've been lusting after the Dark for years! The dealer didn't have any so they put it on order & will call me today to give me an ETA. I currently have a motor swapped Honda Ruckus project that has been my toy, but I'm glad to have a full size MC to add to the stable now. I've been riding for 3 years, and am stoked. Here's my Ruckus, love it or hate it, it's mine & I dig it: (http://gallery.me.com/chrishargrove/100060/Ruck_Update_Top_Side/web.jpg) Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: IZ on June 03, 2010, 04:57:23 AM I may have seen that Ruckus on SoCo when I was living in Austin. Welcome to the board.
Btw. Check out the pokey spotted thread in the NMC section. It has a Ruckus club from Osaka. Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: wasabi on June 03, 2010, 09:34:35 AM Welcome!! Make sure you check out Ming's on wednesday's. I am in San Antonio and every once in a while I get up there on a wednesday.

Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: ChrisH on June 04, 2010, 04:51:57 AM Thanks for the welcome! The Ruckus is TONS of fun. It's fully built motor - stroker crank, big bore piston, cam, port & polish, big carb, pipe, CDI, clutch, etc It will really move for a scooter.
Ducati Austin is still trying to locate my Duc, I'm really antsy as I'm sure you can imagine. As much as I told the wife no mods, she knows I'm a liar, I'm already trying to figure out how to convince her I need some stuff [evil] It's a sickness. Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: IZ on June 05, 2010, 03:13:42 AM Paint the 696 to match the Ruckus. Get the aftermarket seat (it has red stitching too) and then add the CF termis. Of course, you'll need to paint the yellow shock too.
Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: ChrisH on June 06, 2010, 02:33:55 AM I negotiated some of the color therapy skins in my deal, so I have the bright blue color set to switch to if I want. You do make me wonder what an olive green would look like on the monster though.

You do make me wonder what an olive green would look like on the monster though. Go to the color configurator. There's an olive green color on it. OD Green tank with everything else blacked out with the "bling" option and it matches the Ruckus perfect! http://ducatimonsterforum.org/configurators/SSS_Configurator.swf (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/configurators/SSS_Configurator.swf) I was a month too early buying my 1100 so no tank skins for me!! Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: ChrisH on June 10, 2010, 07:26:09 PM Thanks! Still waiting on the bike :( ducati Austin seemed pretty confident that they'd find me one this week, but tomorrow's Friday, so we'll see. If the wait is going to be much longer, I'm just going to see about upgrading to a 796. I didn't want to wait that long when I put the deposit down, but if I'm now going to wait anyway, why not. I know I'll be happy either way.
Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: ivobivo on June 10, 2010, 09:14:09 PM I got a Black and Red 695 from them in '07 and waited for it one month. So, good luck.
Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: ChrisH on June 26, 2010, 12:28:53 PM Picked up my bike last night, brand new from Italy! Very nice to have it home now, and pretty rad that it was put on a slow boat straight from bologna just for me! It rides great so far, I'm sure it will take me awhile to get used to it since I'm use to my ruckus and a friends 650 vstar. Can't wait until I can actually start to give it some revs after break in.

Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: ChrisH on June 27, 2010, 09:21:27 PM This will have to do for now until I can get out & find a cool spot to take pics

Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: ChrisH on July 24, 2010, 10:03:00 AM Going in for the 600 mile service next week, also having them install the 14t front sprocket & removing the charcoal canister. I love this thing, tons of fun. Can't wait until it's a actually broken in & I can afford the termi's for it.
Title: Re: New Austin Rider Post by: wasabi on July 26, 2010, 03:46:17 AM I recently had the 14T sprocket installed and I was thinking to myself does it really make that much difference. Well I found out after riding for about a week it really does make a whole lot of difference. I am not the sort to ride wheelies, but since then I accidentally raised the front tire off the ground twice. So be careful and get used to it.
