The unleash the red deal with $650 bucks off pushed me over the edge--I got a brand new 2009 Monster 1100 in red. I pick it up tomorrow night and I put the money down this morning, so she's mine.
I am really stoked and cannot wait to ride. No mods for a bit, the bike pretty much took my savings--Christmas looks like the Termi slip ons and ECU, though.... [clap]
start save'n for the services ;)
congrats man [thumbsup] need to see some pics
I won't have her until tomorrow--I'll do pics over the weekend. I will have to figure out how to do pics from my iPhoto.....
[clap] good job !!
Thanks for all your help. FYI, I ended up at Fay Myers!
Congratulations on you new bike! Don't forget the pictures later.
Congratulations!!!!!! [beer]
You will NOT regret the purchase.
Now go take out another loan to pay for all the mods.
Ha! I saved for two years to get this--no loan. I will get mods when I can, but my other bike is very custom so I'm not going to go wild with the Monster.
The plan--within 6-8 months have risers or damper, touring seat if I need it, and pipes/ecu. That will be it, and after it is broken in. Time to just enjoy it for now... [popcorn]

Yeah, just a damper, touring seat, pipes/ecu... That's it.... until the next mod strikes your fancy :)
Once you pop you can't stop, my friend :)
Hehehehe, I forgot the tail chop...... [beer]
It is in the garage! I rode it home from the dealer and then rode some more after dinner. No pics yet and I can't post them anyway.... :-[
[bang]
I went from riding Harleys to riding BMWs to riding Ducati Monsters.
Now I have a Ducati Super bike.
It will be a totally different riding experience but you will soon come to love what a Ducati is made to do.
Handle and go fast, plus with an aftermarket exhaust especially a Termignoni w, an open Airbox and a DP ECU , you will fall in love with the red Italian Stallion and it's music.
Dolph :)

Look into R&G. I purchased the comp werkes tail chop and returned it because IMO it's a ripoff and poorly constructed.
The R&G was nearly the same price and make of 1/4" thick aluminum and powdercoated black. VERY high quality product.
Click for teh big.

congrat's.
+1 on the R&G. I did that. If I had to do it again, it'd be that or the EVO. Both are already powder coated black, made out of thicker stock of aluminum. Don't do the DP kit, it is made of plastic. One user on here actually had it crack.
I have heard Evotech is good also....

I like to tinker with pipes and intake and stuff.....
That is one of the best looking choppers I have ever seen, Did you build it? I love how low the bike is, not the suspension, the whole thing. [thumbsup]
Thanx man! I didn't build it, but I have modified it a bit--new seat, mirrors, belt drive, intake, exhaust, new cam, roller rockers, shaved 0.060" off the heads, etc, etc......it has a new intake with twin K&N style filters on it now. It is a Big Bear Choppers Sled Prostreet. It has a 100" S&S motor with loads of torque (135)....
Thanks for the comments....the bike seat is 19" off the deck, you sit "down in" the bike, it has a drop seat frame as they say.
I have been riding the Monster, and I can say there is no overlap in the bikes!!! The Sled is nine and a half feet long, the Monster turns when I just think about it! And sooooo light!!! [clap]
Both bikes are gorgeous. Although, what's the point of covering up the plate on the Monster if you're going to show the plates on the car and the chopper? [cheeky]

That was just glare, I didn't do that. I don't understand covering the plates, if someone wants me they can find me. Good question, though...

Easy-no on can lift the chopper, and it wouldn't fit in the truck anyways! ;)
Damn. Now thats a rear tire on that choppa. lol.
chopper [thumbsup]
monster [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
welcome to the family.
Ciao!
Nice bikes, I see you have a two wheel "problem" like me......what kind of mountain bikes are those hanging in the garage?

One is a Cannondale Prophet III, that is mine, the silver one with awesome welds. The other is a Specialized (something?) that is my wife's. Both full suspension... I have the full Fox setup.
My four wheeler is a Jeep Liberty, 2003, long since paid for and it allows my addiction to bikes to continue. [cheeky] I hope to have it for 15 years, it only has 67k miles right now!
the choppa... nearly as nimble as an 18 wheeler. :P Nice eye candy tho :)

awesome, never ridden the Prophet but I've owned a Rush in the past and I currently ride a Custom made Titanium frame with a Cannondale Lefty Fork on it....love it
Thanks to your Monster photos, I am now seriously in a debate with myself as to whether I want to upgrade my "baby 620" to an 1100......... or keep it and just spend some money giving it a "makeover"
decisions decisions

You don't have to like it bro.... I do. It is great on the freeway at 90 mph at nine and a half feet long, I can tell you that. But it won't turn around in my garage or anything :o
Having different tastes is what makes stuff fun.

Just don't ever wheelie it or you might take down overhead power lines. [cheeky]
It would need 10,000 horsepower to wheelie!! [moto]

Enjoy it, you will ......... [thumbsup]
Congratulations.....
Nice bikes. I understand where you are coming from with the different bikes. At one point I had a 1975 Honda CB550F Cafe Racer as my daily rider, a 1995 Ducati 900 SS/SP (944 Kit, carbon body, etc...) as my weekend ride and a 1957 Triumph T110 Chopper that I built (reverse shifting and all). Every time I switched bikes I had to take a few seconds to remember what bike I was on that day.
The red is certainly my favorite color. Now let the mods/real money spending begin.
I like the CW kit. I may PC it later, dig the polished look. My only complaint is the location of the led in relation to the nuts used to secure. Makes it a little difficult to take on and off.

BBC,
I'm chopper illiterate...what are those handle thingies on either side of the seat?
Specialized FSR it appears.
You did good on the 1100

Thanks all. The handle things are actually passenger footpegs that swing out. A suction cup gel seat then sticks to the fender and my wife rides on it, attached to the swingarm and all! Needless to say, after riding the Monster yesterday I think two up on the chopper will be special occasions only from now on ;D
But she never complained about it--she just like the Monster a lot better. We plan on two upping a good bit.

Bet you never tried any "touring bike" with her ...... she'll love it even more
