"Designated driver sued after drunken passenger jumps from car"
"According to a report in The Globe and Mail, a lawsuit launched by a woman who leapt from a moving car during a domestic squabble might make people ponder the merits of being a designated driver.
Indeed, the lawsuit â€" which is headed to trial â€" could set a precedent by making designated drivers liable for intoxicated passengers who cause themselves harm."
Please note, the woman suing has jumped from stuff before:
"The legal eaglets contend Sanayhie knew Richardson was prone to leaping from speeding vessels (she once jumped off a moving boat after becoming agitated.)"

Really? You're going to sue because you jumped from a moving car? Too bad she's not eligible for a Darwin award
Simple solution - take her on a hot air balloon ride and make her mad.
welcome to the future
zero personal responsibility
Stupid law suit. If the idiot were to win, I bet you could also make the connection that a taxi driver is responsible if you jump out of the taxi while on the freeway and get hurt or an insane person's care taker is responsible if the looney offs their self while the care taker is taking a piss.
[roll] I'd like to be :o but sadly I'm just [roll]
Man this kind of shit really pisses me off.
BP is right zero personal responsibility.
She should just be shot.

good samaritan law
Doesn't that vary by state if they adopted it?
As far as I know, it isn't a federal law.
Here's another ridiculous lawsuit and another case of zero personal responsibility...

<deleting comment on state vs. federal authority>
Well on this exact matter state vs fed doesn't matter - since this little gem is from Canuckistan. So for once, just once, the Canadians are dealing with this sort of stupid.
