Title: World Cup Food Challenge!
Post by: El Matador on June 10, 2010, 08:17:01 PM
Hey guys, this is the latest project that Desmolu and I have been working on.

It's a challenge to eat the foods from the countries playing in the world cup. We made a pretty comprehensive list of places to eat around Houston, but she's also posting up recipes for those that don't want to eat out. The foodies here should appreciate it.

When I say "we're" working on it, I mean she does the cooking and I do the eating. Nice arrangement huh?

Anyways, here it is.

Any suggestions are welcome!

I would have suggested Bobotie everyday over sheeps head, your recipe is spot on according to the wife, and is a favoured dish in our household on sunday afternoon [thumbsup]

Thanks, Troubled Bear - I'm glad I managed to find a good recipe for bobotie after hours of scouring the interwebs and am especially glad I tried this dish! We loved the flavors - very different from foods we usually eat. We even mixed it up with Mexico and put the bobotie in a tortilla!

Just posted pics here: http://worldcupfoodchallenge.blogspot.com/2010/06/day-1-south-africa-vs-mexico-uruguay-vs.html (http://worldcupfoodchallenge.blogspot.com/2010/06/day-1-south-africa-vs-mexico-uruguay-vs.html)

All in all, a successful first day of cooking through the first few World Cup countries!

The US part being the food and the Mexico part being the explosive peeing from the butt he experienced later.

Great Idea Desmolu. I think I may tag along...

Thats a fun idea.  I do a similar thing with buddies during football season, we make food that is indicative of the cities the NFL teams are from; ie: barbecue for the Cowboys, brats and chili for the Packers, Italian food for the Steelers, hot wings for the Bills, cajun food for the Saints, etc.

Your list does supply more opportunities for healthier and more worldly foods, I dig it.   [thumbsup]

Well, I'd originally intended to do it for this year's Moto GP season but I was incapacitated for the starting couple of months. This is more challenging anyway!

Today's menu may be my most ambitious yet - all 6 countries in one meal: http://goo.gl/0yzU (http://goo.gl/0yzU)

More new stuff on the blog. In case you can't make up your mind as to what you want to have for dinner!
