When resetting the TPS using the VDST on the S2R1000 / 5 AM, is it simply a matter of using the computer to reset the TPS or do we still need to follow the old procedure of putting slack in the throttle body linkage to ensure the left throttle body is fully closed?
The mix of instructions I have are unclear, but seem to indicate it is all done with the software on these bikes. That does not seem right to me, though. My TPS read 2.8-degrees and reset to 3.4-degrees using the VDST without me physically changing anything on the bike.
Thanks,
Jeff
you need to make sure it is fully shut, but otherwise just electronic. they can change a bit, or is this a new ecu?
Stock ECU. I'm playing with a new VDST.
Do I ensure the left (TPS) side it is fully shut by simply backing off the throttle stop screw on the right-side?

how is it communicating with the ECU for you, good? just curious if you're using serial port or serial-to-usb adapter...and if so, cablemax or keyspan?

I'm using the Keyspan adapter. I had to download the version of the VDST software for Vista and make adjustments to the adapter driver as instructed in another thread of mine regarding the stability of the VDST. Doing those two things improved the communication between the VDST and the ECU.

just hooked the vdst up to mine again after making the suggested driver changes to the keyspan adapter (found on the faq page at technoresearch) and it seems to be communicating fine [beer]
