Title: Alright... which one of you works at CERN?
Post by: Amlethae on June 11, 2010, 06:43:04 PM
So we all know there are pleanty of warnings on everything these days...

"Caution HOT" on McDonalds coffee cups...

"Caution: Choking Hazard" on the strings you use to pull up the blinds on your windows...

All to save the asses of the companies from which you buy your products from... because one person wasn't smart enough to know these things a priori and decided to sue the company...

So why does Ducati have to have this written in their Roadside Assistance Manual?:
Quote
Page 5 under "General Provisions"
...
In addition, Services shall not be performed in case of:

1) any Events occurred as a result of:
- competition racing and associated practice training,
- war, revolution, riot or uprising, plundering, sabotage, vandalism and terrorist activities, piracy, strike, earthquakes, weather events qualifying as natural disasters,
- action of governmental Authorities or force majeure cases,
- direct and indirect consequences of nuclear transmutation, as well as of radiation caused by the artificial acceleration of atomic particles;
...

thats because they dont want to tow ur bike to the nearest dealer if u work near CERN. Cause u know, LHC = mini blackhole that emits nuclear radiation and will eat the earth

I'm more surprised about the racing comment

Racing voids the warranty, so why wouldn't it void your free roadside

My bike accelerates billions of particles every time I twist the throttle.

Not to rain on the fun, but I always thought that was the magic "Yeah, if there's a nuclear war or reactor meltdown we ain't covering shit." clause.

I still can't believe they don't cover plundering or piracy.  I mean, if viking hordes descend on me and they split my rear tire with an ax I just get left sitting there?  And if I have my bike out for a nice pleasure cruise across the bay after riding around Vietnam a-la Top Gear they won't cover me if I'm hit by cannon?  That's rude.
