What's your best local beer?
Since I'm in Portland, its a bit hard to decide, but I'm partial to Hopworks. (http://www.hopworksbeer.com/)
I like the HUB lager (http://www.hopworksbeer.com/hub_lager.php) and Velvet ESB (http://www.hopworksbeer.com/velvet_esb.php)

Those are good too. I'd say Ice Axe (http://www.iceaxegrill.com/beer.php) would be your closest. [beer]
McBeer (http://www.mcmenamins.com/) is okay, not the best, but not the worst either.

That's my son-in-law climbing out of the tank and pouring the hops into the vat
Their IPA is the shit
When I lived in Boston my favorite was Harpoon IPA. Still my favorite beer, though they don't distribute in California.

It's pretty much all I drink...
for beer that is.
Redhook has some decent stuff too.
long trail
I have no favorite and love so many. Since Red Hook (NH) was mentioned I will think Smuttynose should get equal time.
Local?
Would have to be August Schell Firebrick. Yum.
Flying Bison Scotch Ale and Great Lakes Barley Wine. [drink]
Both seasonal and only available at the brewery.
Dogfish Head - all of them, but the 120 minute IPA is the shiznit..
DuClaw Venom is another dangerously potent IPA
Clipper City's Heavy Seas collection is all good
Flying Dog - all of them once again
Raccoon River Brewing Company - Bandit IPA
Raccoon River Brewing Company - Stonecutter Stout

I am partial to a brew pub here in Tempe called Four Peaks. My favorite beer is their Hop Knot IPA. I would say it's a must visit for anyone heading to the Phoenix area.

I am able to get Redhook out here. I've written to Harpoon a couple times trying to drum up some business in CA, but no luck. One would think after 'The Departed' they'd want to make it happen.

Have you been there? ;D
I miss Saranac. Someone send me some.
There's more than one?
I supose I should have been more specific....
Which Saranac brew do you fancy??
Long Trail Ale
Fat Tire Ale
Saranac Black and Tan
OMG Sarnac...
I have the honor of living 4 blocks away from the largest beer selection in the state.
Around Christmas time, they had a sale on Sarnac 6 pack samplers for $3.50 each. Needless to say, my fridge was full of Sarnac products for a good 2 months.
Tasty stuff.
Saranac...not to be confused with Sarnac....wife of Carnac the Magnificent

I don't know...
never been further south than Miami.
The beer I make myself. ;)
It's coming into lager/pilsner brewing season again (winter in the southern hemisphere), so went to the Home Brew shop yesterday and stocked up.
Will be making a wheat beer using Nelson Sauvin hops this week. [drool]
