Ditto.

Placed right where my immigrant neighbors can see it.  Not that I want them to give up their heritage mind you, I just want them to remember where the have chosen to live.

You need to get an all weather flag. You can certainly fly it in the rain.

I am not concerned with the flag and being wet, but the wind and my relatively light weight holder, I half expect it to snap off when it is windy.  I choose the wrong wording in my first post.

I had a Gasden flag for years, and then the tea party movement embraced that iconic image. The only other US flag I have was my grandfather's, and I'm not displaying that one.

It was out when I got home.  The Mrs. knew what day it was and the rains ended late morning.   [thumbsup]

I had a small one planted in a flower garden but it must have blown away in one of the recent Thunder Storms.

My Freak Flag is flyin' if that counts.

On Nationalism:

So are you saying that I'm a step away from being a bigot because I think that people move to American because it has the freedom to allow its citizens to strive for better?

My neighbor has been an American for the last 20 years and he has told me that he came here to get away from the terrible standard of living and corruption that he was accustomed to. Yet he, his wife and his sons have done nothing but perpetuate the life from which they fled.

My neighbors have not learned how to work with in they system only how to exploit it.

Is part of the problem the way that our laws are set up allowing them to do this? Hell yes!  But one part of being an American is knowing that just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should.

I fly the flag for: my Grandfathers and my Father, service men, police and firemen plus many others who have made this country what it is. I also fly the flag to remind people including my neighbors of all the great things that this country stands for.  Despite all the bashing of this imperfect country I'm still proud to call myself an American.  So go ahead and call me what you will.

First, I called you nothing. Don't say that I did.

Second, this will turn political so if you'd like to discuss it further send me a PM.

Cheers.

Oh, so now because they don't live to your standard he's doing it wrong?

It's freedom-if he can work the system in his favor, more power to him.

. . . is NOT about being "American" its about not being an asshole. In any country. Maybe your neighbor is just an asshole regardless of his nationality. Nothing "unAmerican" about that.

Noticed the other day that one of our local Wendy's had the the Wendy's flag flying above the US flag on the same f'ing flag pole.

I wanted to go in there and kick somebody's ass.  Still need to send corporate an email, but it would probably do no good.

I bet it would do good.  As sensitive as corporate America is, it will climb right up the "do the right thing" chart.

I might be wrong but I thought it is "illegal" to fly a flag above the US flag in the good 'o US of A.  Might be an unwritten law like never let the flag touch the ground.  Anyway, take a picture of that Wendy's flag and send it to corporate.  The branch manager needs to be taught a lesson in civics.
