Your CTP is going up.

Basically email/write/drop into your local member  and the transport minister and advise the following;
You vote and will vote for the person that supports you.
Ask why is this happening
Ask what are they doing about it.
Ask why the split of capacities is so obviously designed to gouge the maximum amount out of Motorcyclists

Thanks Aunty, the info has been shared here already.
I think the prices don't reflect people with full comp insurance.

Which insurers take comprehensive insurance into account?
Shopping around at the moment tried QBE CTP stays the same &
NRMA takes nearly $200 off their CTP.

Any others?

Pretty much all companies change their rate with the level of insurance on the bike. I found GIO was the cheapest at the mo with a bike with comp insurance.

GIO has been the best for me in the last two years.
Spoke to QBE to try to keep all my insurance together for a discount but CTP is run by a different part of the
company and they don't take into account loyalty.

Best bet is to try the Green Slip comparison website, I think it's MTA it gives you the best prices then chose the one that you want.

MAA Matty:

We have also been using GIO the last couple of years ... and like I said mine is slightly cheaper this year than last (under the new system).

Yeah they do Matty. You pay the CTP prior to insurance, so it doesn't come into play...  :'(

It costs me the same to register a 1982 triumph as it does to register the S4RS!!

I noticed that the 250cc bikes are getting a huge increase, do you think that this is due to so many people buying small bikes/vespas that the Government feels that they are losing money?

According to the MAA website, if I get CTP starting 31 June, it'll cost an average of $592 (min $496, max $665).  If I get the same insurance starting 1 July, that drops to an average of $445 (min $373, max $467).

I'm not complaining.  That's $147 to spend on bling.

CTP = compulsory third party, this is not property insurance it's third party PERSONAL insurance, so if you kill/injure a pillion or other member of the public it covers them for their injuries/death/suffering/permanent disability etc.
irrespective of whether you have your comprehensive cover with the same company it's state regulated and as it's compulsory they don't give a shit, so no discount, you just have to shop for the best deal.
Amazing how every govt. department is conspiring to syphon us dry! Our qld govt. has put laws into place for $100 fines for "public nuisance" like swearing.
there's far too many levels of govt. in this country considering our population.

Well kinda, sorta. Yes its compulsory but technically has been 'de-regulated' that is how you are able to shop around.

Apparently the cost does also vary as to whether you have comprehensive as well - this may be a multi-policy discount or perhaps just a reflection of perceived risk taking. Insurance companies policy, logic and pricing aren't meant to make sense you know.

The killer is that new-ish MCIS levy. From memory (of the lauch blurb) is for catastrophic injuries to injured parties ... but still is not to protect the driver/rider (this may have changed?). So if that is that is the case why is it more for bikes than cars ... especially if you don't carry a pillion.
