Ok guys I'm at a blank here I got some barnett clutch plates for a really great price..... But he tells me that I can use them on my dry clutch. But I have also been told that it is for a wet clutch... So I want to see what you guy think. I have googled and search and really haven't had much luck, the barnett site says it can either be used as wet or dry...

i see after reading around more here some people really dont like them [laugh] i will test and see what i think...
ya if i could spell somehting correctly in any of posts then hot biggy titty women would fall from the sky [laugh] [laugh]
i think they blow chunks. i used them for a 1,000 miles and they started slipping on me during acceleration. then i gave them to El Matador, and he said hes put a few thousand on them without issue.
so is it my bike? or is it the way i ride? or the condition I ride in (which is heavy urban traffic stop and go, and flaiing it at green lights)
I've got at least 15K on the set on the Monster with absolutely no problems. The SS had a set in it when I bought it, no idea how many miles on that but I've got maybe 16 track days on it and again, no problems
i get about 10k on stock OEM plates. im pretty brutal on my clutch so its probably me.
I have been happy with the performance and price of Barnett clutch packs in two Ducatis I have owned ('92 SL900 and '95 M900). Both bikes ran the same Vee Two basket and drum/hub.
The Barnett plates have run 20,000 kms in my Monster so far with no problems, but this set are noisier due to a greater tang to slot clearance compared to the last set I used in the Superlight. Strange. I fitted a stock friction plate at the front of the stack to stop the plates 'rocking' in the basket at idle. The stock plate had a tighter tang to slot clearance and 'locked' the pack up better in the basket.
I saw a set of Barnett plates recently fitted to a Multistrada and they had a nice close tolerance with minimal noise and slop. The bike had an open clutch cover and the clutch was quieter than mine with a stock cover!
I will e-mail Barnett to give them my feedback. When you try them I reckon you should let Barnett (and us) know how the plates perform, good or bad.
Good luck.
well i put them in last eve and rode to work this morning
they feel pretty good [thumbsup] i mean so far so good! plus with the slave cylinder its just like butter again...
i will ride throught the weekend and post an update. But im getting the feeling it will be good

thats what i was starting to wander, cause i can do alot of city riding. But it did take me a little while to get use to the clutch, when i first got the bike i was slipping the clutch pretty bad :-\
my stock clutch (i dont think) was in bad shape...but after riding this morning i totally feel a difference! the stock was really slipping worse then i thought, these barnetts are tight and feel good [thumbsup] i love brand new ;D
so thats what a clutch should feel like [roll] [laugh]
one more question guys...where are the wear marks are on the plates? maybe im just looking wrong or blind, but was curious? and when do you typically change the clutch basket?

YOu mean like the grooves a brake pad might have? If so, there aren't any. One can go by thickness if you have calipers... or just eyeball it. IF they are looking thin and shabby... time for new ones.
There's no typical on a clutch basket. Some people like He Man thrash 'em out real fast. I replaced mine at ~28K, though it could have kept going for a while, but was getting some good grooves resulting in a lot of extra noise.
theres a spec in the haynes manual for +/- 2mm of travel beyond normal, and it "should be replaced"
my stock ones were pretty thrashed but not out of spec at ~8,000 miles. Again it really depends on how you ride, where u ride etc. my bike can be on for 2 hours, but i only made about 25 miles, and i have 18,000 miles right now so it doenst show how many hours my bike was on but just not moving.
