Title: ...fingers crossed for Casey!
Post by: auntymal on June 18, 2010, 02:39:44 PM

Friday provided a day of learning and development for the MotoGP riders at Silverstone as they took to the track for the first time, and Casey Stoner was one who adapted rapidly as he set the second fastest time behind Jorge Lorenzo in FP1. The Australian wasted little time in giving his thoughts on the new circuit.

“The layout of the track is simply fantastic,” he beamed. “It is great fun to ride and some of the corners are awesome. Unfortunately there are a few bumps on the ‘old’ part of the track where the asphalt hasn’t been relaid but when they get around to doing it I think we can safely say it will be one of the best circuits in the world.”

Immediately showing an aptitude for the track with his lap of 2’06.133 just 0.142s off that of Lorenzo, Stoner was pleased with the work put in by his team on day one. There is still much to do though as he targets a first podium finish of the season on Sunday.

“We’ve worked hard on the set-up today and for the moment we are still looking for the right solution,” he explained. “The bike was a little too stiff for the bumps and it was difficult to find the limit or understand how fast we can really go. We’ll make some changes tomorrow and hope the weather is good to us.”
