Title: Clear Alternatives LED intergrated tail light, which flasher relay????
Post by: COP TZR on June 21, 2010, 05:08:28 PM
alright here's an update.  My original relay is toast.  The replacement I got works, but not with the LED's intergrated into my tail light (clear alternatives).  I hooked up a traditional signal bulb and voila I get left and right flashing signal. I plug in the LED signal wire inline with the traditional bulb and I still get flashing signals on both the bulb and LED.  I still dont get any indicator flash on my speedo cluster, so I'm going to assume the bulb inside the cluster is pooched.

Now I know many members here have a Clear Alternatives intergrated LED tail light, so what exactly did you do to get the signals to work.  The replacement relay I got is a Tridon brand EP35 and I even tried an EP36 and still no go.  I'm not running any front signals, so my understanding is that there is not enought "load" for the relay to flash the LED's.  Clear Alternatives website says that resistors are not needed and its plug and play.  The resistors will only slow the flashing.  If I do need resistors, which ones do I use?  I really need to get this done so my bike is legally roadworthy and I can begin riding.  Its been a long winter working on this thing.  Can someone help me out.

thanks

LED specific flasher relay from ebay did the trick.  I still however dont get the warning light in the dash to flash.  If I leave the bulb in the socket it puts a short in the circuit and both left and right signals flash at the same time.  I've changed the bulb and it still does the same thing.  Guess I just have to leave the bulb out and remember to cancel my signals when I turn.
