Went to our local Ducati dealer in Kuala Lumpur yesterday ......
All 6 MS1200S were sold even before their official launch ....
There's a lot of rich people here considering the price of the MS to be within RM160,000.00 ;D
Buy a BMW.
Yeah ... they're cheaper .... but BMW sucks & Ducati rules ..... I want the MS really bad ;D

Buy an RR.
Still sucks...buy an Aprilia [evil]
no, screw that...ask your rich people there to sponsor Moto Morini and get a Scrambler !
Whoa - that's nearly 50 thousand US smackeroos!
How much does a new Monster cost there (in either ringgit or simoleons)?
MTS 1200 S Denmark 352.410 DKK = 58.0934 USD [bang] [bang] [bang]

Good grief.
I feel less stupid for ordering the Multi now. "See, Honey - I got a $58,000 bike for only $20,000!"
I know somebody in Finland who told me when I bought my Duc 1098 R that they sold in Finland for the U.S. equivalent of over $100,000.
Yikes it must be really expensive to live in Scandinavia.
Dolph :)

We have cheaper Ducatis than those Scandinavians ........ I don't feel so bad already :-\ :'(
Austerity hurts :'(
They had one in each color at Ducati Scotsdale this afternoon. [thumbsup]
I've gotta be seeing those numbers wrong. Ducatis cost HOW much in Malaysia and Scandinavia?
...and for some reason a Multi 1200 S Sport costs $1,150 more than a Touring in Denmark, although they're the same price in the States. Do they have some sort of carbon fiber tax?

Maybe the 'Sport' in the name categorizes it as a sports bike ?

Those numbers are probably after tax etc. I bet the price without tax is approx. the same, minus some weird currency conversion discrepancy that always seems to happen that is.
Better question, how much would a used 2001 M600 & 1998 ST2 fetch in Finland, and how much to ship from Arizona? ;D
Then they'll just hit you with a customs tax that's more thatn if you would have bought it in Finland.
its not the bike, its the taxes.
Small countries with no car production = no lobby = high taxes
Finland, Denmark, Norway...SUCKS...up to 120 % of the bike price, paid upfront
Sweden on the other hand, Volvo, Saab, Koenigsegg...they know how to tame the government.
Virtually zero taxes...same as Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Czech and England of course.
If you come from Texas with your 15.000 $ Monster and want danish plates, they judge its value and ask you for 18.000$ in taxes.
But yes, we do have health care [beer]
I remember every time "StopinTime" used to mention part and bike prices when he was modding his S2R.
Used to make my eyes water at some of the prices they pay in his native land, even here in Australia the prices
we pay for even the basic models of Monster are pretty high.
My S2R 800 was over $16k to buy new. the 696 was about $14 to $15K (not sure of current price) about 12

Numbers are correct, ... at least in Malaysia ... & yes, its because of the taxes... it sucks
The benefit of higher and higher bike prices in Malaysia means that our second hand values are pretty good. My previous ride was sold for more than my purchase price (yes it was second hand when I got her and yes, I did lots of mods). [thumbsup]
The MS was officially launched last night & priced at RM139,000.00 or US$43,500.00 [bang] & poor folks like me was not invited ........ [laugh] ....... I guess, they knew I couldn't afford it ;D 8)
See... there is no such thing as "free health care". You pay for it one way or another.

You can't get hurt on a bike if you can't afford a bike :)

You'll get hurt only if you're thrown off the bike ;D
