For those that have coated the inside of a tank, what did you use? Caswell? POR-15? Something else? And what were the results?
I am contemplating coating my new plastic tank in hopes that it does not expand so if you have any insight, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Case
I've used Kreeme, POR, and recently the Caswell.
Kreeme is absolute junk.
I prefer the POR. I've coated literally hundreds of steel tanks and never had a failure besides a carbon tank that split wide open at a seam.
I don't think the POR will work on a plastic tank though. It's a urethane product and those types of coatings generally won't stick to plastics without an adhesion promoter.
Caswell has claimed it's coating will stick to plastic. I think if you follow the instructions and rough up the inside as recommended it may be fine. The things I don't like about the Caswell coating is it is clear and difficult to determine coverage, and is so thick it is difficult to get the excess out.
I bought some Hirsch tank sealer for an old Suzuki tank. I have not used it yet but I've read good things about it.
Kreeme is total junk. I have to re-coat my tank (steel) and I am planning on using the KBS Coatings Kit (http://www.kbs-coatings.com/large-cycle-tank-sealer-plus-kit.html). Did a bunch of research, it was down to that or the POR kit...seems to be a lot of people on motorcycle forums that say both are great. It might sound silly, but I like that the KBS is a bright silver in color (POR is black, if I remember right) - which, imho, looks better and makes it easier to check out the inside of the tank from time to time.

No I haven't.
I've had excellent results with the POR and haven't felt the need to explore.
I buy it from the same supplier I get all my other materials from so it's convenient.
The only way it could be better was if it was less money.
What is the price on the KBS?
