I'm swapping out the frontend on my S2R 800 for a set of Showa forks from what I was told was and S4Rt, I picked up and axel with the hole in it for adjusting rebound but when I got to assemble it on the clutch side something seems to be missing. There is nothing for the nut to press against. Can someone send me a pic of what their setup looks like.
Ok so does anyone have the specs for the axel for the S4Rt (showa frontend) vs the S4RS axel specs? I think I managed to find the part numbers from Ducati Seattle's site but they only have the part numbers not any of the specs.

I think the nut is supposed to torque against the fork bottom casting. There should be only three parts to the axle assembly. The axle, the spacer, and the nut. Be sure to torque everything to its proper rating upon reassembly, and use some grease on the threads to get accurate torquedown. It's kinda important.

Are you sure that that nut deal doesn't float in the lower leg, then clamp with the 2 small screws? I don't feel like walking out to the garage just now, wah, it's cold out there, but I will look in the morning, I've got Showas on the S4, might be the same.
If I'm full of crap, just tell me. But I've got to bust some tires on tomorrow, so I will check mine for sure.

I think that is exactly what I'm looking at, just pissed me off that I couldn't find the specs top check for difference. Thanks any help is appreciated.
I just looked. It appears that the axle kind of floats in the lower leg, and then the 2 screws pinch down on it. I bounce it up and down a few times, to kind of get it to sit where it wants to, then torque them. Not very tight, either, a friend of mine stripped a couple of his. I forget the spec though, maybe 12 or 15 lbs, maybe less. I'll find out later. I loctite them also, but there is some disagreement about that. But that's what I do. If I don't loctite it, I use never sieze on it.
It all works out when the spacer and wheel is on the axle.

It all ends up getting torqued against the fat side of the axle.
As mentioned, the right side floats initially, so bounce on the front end to get it settled properly before torquing the pinch bolts.
Perhaps someone can enlighten me. Most manufacturer's torque specs are for a 'dry' torque unless noted otherwise. Does Ducati specify 'wet' torque specs. And if so, with what lubricant? Anyone know for sure?
The reason I ask is that most specs are given 'dry' because the grease, threadlocker, or anti-seize will all give different results and usually the torque will end up being 30% to 50% more than a dry torque.

Ducati specs both, but it's usually noted....

IIRC, the S4Rt Showas have an axle that's different from previous Showas.
I think that's the problem you're facing.
S4Rs have Ohlins forks, so not necessarily the same axle as either of the Showas.
Got it Ducpainter - best torque specs I have seen. I should have known those Italians had it together. My old Alfa Romeo workshop manual was the most detailed I had ever seen. All specs to the ten thousandth of an inch.

I think this is exactly the issue, ended up going to a Ducati shop and ordering the parts, now just crossing my fingers, that I got the right ones!
Thanks again for everyone's help and advice, got it fixed and final check over by a local shop is happening today (just to make sure I didn't screw anything up too badly). Back on the road tonight ;D
