Mercedes-Benz actually used to run desmo engines in their 300 SLR race cars in the 50's before, I believe, Taglioni implemented the system in Ducati engines....
-That's it...Nothing more to add... Just found it interesting...I always thought Ducati was the only ever engine manufaturer to use a desmo valve train...

Came out in the US in '68 or '69 on the Diana MK3. And yes I am that old. I was working in a Ducati shop for Syd Tunstall in St. Petersburg FL. If anyone here has heard of him.
