Here is some historical info on the Ducati Desmodromic engine design that is in the Heritage section of the Ducati.com web site. Part 1 is available now with more to follow.

thnaks for that refrence... not for late night relaxing reading, ouch; my brain cells hurt after playing baseball, drinking beer; it just doesn't fit at the moment but I book marked it for later refrence ... [beer]

Mercedes-Benz actually used to run desmo engines in their 300 SLR race cars in the 50's before, I believe, Taglioni implemented the system in Ducati engines....

-That's it...Nothing more to add... Just found it interesting...I always thought Ducati was the only ever engine manufaturer to use a desmo valve train...

Came out in the US in '68 or '69 on the Diana MK3. And yes I am that old. I was working in a Ducati shop for Syd Tunstall in St. Petersburg FL. If anyone here has heard of him.
