Title: Are all banjo bolts created equal?
Post by: DarkStaR on June 26, 2010, 07:41:03 PM
Apparently not...

Why the difference in orifice size?

Will one have different lever feel than another?

I've seen the smaller hole used on oil lines to slow down the flow of engine oil.

I wasn't aware they used different sizes on brakes.

They do, same purpose.  The smaller orifice slows down application by a fraction of a nano second on initial application at the same pressure.

Interesting.  I'm guessing the banjo bolt with the smallest orifice came from the brake master then.

So are there any pro or cons with having a banjo bolt with the smallest orifice on the brake master (999 radials & 4 pad calipers)?

The 4 pads are pretty aggressive, the smaller orifice prevents lock up.

also, I'd suggest using all the same size (probably the largest you have) anywhere after the master. That way there is not unequal initial application.

I initially put one with a big orifice, came back, read the posts, replaced it with the big small orifice, and re-bled.

Thanks guys.

Can you rephrase that?
