New rider, new (to me) monster. Beautiful day today in DC, so I took a nice long ride. Went to fill the tank with gas and knocked the little black funnel thing that connects to the bottom of the fuel flange off into the tank. [bang] I noticed it but couldn't easily replace it so I shrugged my shoulders and pulled it out so it wouldn't fall of into regions I couldn't reach. Close the tank and drive off to enjoy the rest of the day. [thumbsup]
Just read the posts telling how much of a pain it is to reseat the flange properly and am hesitant to try it since tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful (and I'm off again) too. Is there a problem with driving while that thing is in my pocket instead of in my tank? Do I ever have to replace it?
It's just a splash guard. I've got one lurking in my tank. With a little care at the pump you'll never notice a difference.
And on an unrelated note - as a fellow DC metro resident, you should go post in CAM

- There's a bunch of other Monster riders and Ducatisti in the area.
Thanks for the response, Yuu.
I've been lurking in the CAM forum for a couple weeks and hopefully will meet up with you guys soon.
Mine was loose in the bottom of the tank when I got the bike used. I removed it when working on the tank and it has been in a box ever since. No issues.
