Title: Speedo sensor failure
Post by: He Man on July 02, 2010, 12:10:06 PM
Anyone have this happen to them at 18k? kinda of random as its something i dont really touch. Its been periodically going dead on me. I have stainless steel bolts and they have never given me an issue. but now they are either reading 0, or about 20mph slower then i think im going.

Before doing anything check the gap.  The spec is .6-2.2 mm.  Since you are using stainless bolts, the closer to .6 the better.  This may not be the problem, but checking is free.

Mine died, turned out the screw got loose and it was shaking like crazy.

gap is about 1.5mm, but turns out the bolts have nothing to do with it. There are iron rods  built into hte rotor that activate the sensor.

Speedo is nice and tight all wires are good to go.  ill rip it apart after my track days and see wats up.

that speedo sensor is a very expensive little thing. I melted the outer covering on mine when the rear brake stuck on and I melted the pistons...............had to buy a new rotor, caliper, brake line speedo sensor ,sandblast and powder coat the rim etc. Lovely job. I found a sensor on ebay for $35.00. They retail for $235.00!!
