should i mod my OE header or my FBF header? kinda makes me nervous moding the FBF header. Title: Re: 2 to 1 exhaust header Post by: Düb Lüv on July 07, 2010, 07:23:35 PM i dropped my OE header of to the machinist today and he's going to convert it to a 2 to 1 for me. quoted me $150 out the door, so i was pretty happy about that. the custom exhaust shop in town quoted more than double that. sometimes i wish i would just buy a gas mig welder.
if i like the 2-1 exhaust enough, i'll do the same to my FBF header. but i waiting to mod that one until i get my SS swingarm installed. part of the reason that it's driving me to do a 2-1 is that i love the superbike kickstand sooooooooo much. bought one for $14 just to do a test fit, and love the look. beside i'm too cheap to buy new or new to me slip ons and one of my cans had been wrecked. i love my loud a$$ 2 bros exhaust. Title: Re: 2 to 1 exhaust header Post by: kopfjäger on July 07, 2010, 07:37:13 PM Post up some pics when it's done. [thumbsup]
Title: Re: 2 to 1 exhaust header Post by: Düb Lüv on July 07, 2010, 07:41:51 PM he said he's a little backed up due to the 4th and his mother's in the hospital. he said it should be done middle to end of next week.
that's sucks, but it spaces the time out for the goodies i'll be receiving. yoyo order, puma 1000 boots, 2-1 header. OMG! i can't wait. when i pick it up i'll shoot some pics off and on the bike. Title: Re: 2 to 1 exhaust header Post by: Düb Lüv on July 28, 2010, 01:01:08 PM i really haven't been able to ride it yet. stupid scattered showers. the only thing that might possibly concern me is the increase in exhaust output going through the single muffler.

what equation did you use for the diameter of the single pipe as compared to the stock duals? I would suspect the single pipe would need to be a larger diameter with a larger diameter inlet pipe on the can to compensate for the loss of flow of the second pipe. Title: Re: 2 to 1 exhaust header Post by: weemonster on July 29, 2010, 12:50:00 AM I got one of a 600ss.
It know it wont help with a 900 but the diameters of the pipe are tthe same as on the 600 monster. the other thing i did was weld a cap on a stock one. didnt look as pretty as yours. and like i said i have no idea if the 900 would run ok with half the exhaust missing. Title: Re: 2 to 1 exhaust header Post by: Düb Lüv on July 29, 2010, 04:33:48 AM last night the showers stopped and was about to go for a quick tide and the bike didn't want to stay running. before pulling it out of the garage, i let i warm up. it stared backfiring on small revs, about 6-7 inch flames out the pipe. so i pulled the plugs and where black. i was kinda disappointed, but i pulled the 2-1 header off and put my FBF one back on.
i don't feel like tweaking with the FCRs right now. Title: Re: 2 to 1 exhaust header Post by: 118811 on July 30, 2010, 11:59:53 AM Very nice. +1 to the "angle it higher" comment... Really like the look of your bike...maybe cause it looks just like mine!!! You are running the rear lift on the swingarm...correct? Do you like the handling? Thanks Title: Re: 2 to 1 exhaust header Post by: Düb Lüv on July 30, 2010, 03:29:58 PM yeah i have the height adjusters. i haven't really noticed a difference in handling, but i bought the adjuster before i was really able to ride the bike. it does snap side to side very easily. i need to measure my trail to see where i'm at.
