Title: Pod filters on a 696 Post by: Mad Duc on July 03, 2010, 04:50:14 PM Anyone try putting on Pod Filters on their 696? I want to get rid of the rather large plastic airbox so you can see through the frame. I haven't taken off my box yet to see what size I would need nor do I really know where to get them, though I'm sure a quick google will yield results.

Some people say the lack of a velocity stack doenst make much difference in the smaller displacement engines. I dont know. But if your Throttle bodies are any size comapred to mine, then i am selling a set of pod filters for $40. 50mm ID. Without a velocity stack on my 1000DS, there is a dip in my low end torque that i dont like. I'll see if I can find the measurements of the air intakes. If they are 50mm those filters are mine. Without adding at least basic fuel control such as Two Brothers Juice Box or something performance gains would be negligible and could possibly negatively affect performance and engine life long term.

I am not sure if I would get more or less air than with the high flow filter or the pods. I figure I will be pretty much even with the power of the high flow air filter and the pods - I just would prefer look of the pods.
Title: Re: Pod filters on a 696 Post by: 2-Skinny on July 04, 2010, 08:30:23 PM That should be more than sufficient as far as fuel adjustment is concerned, as far as actual performance increase- read the WASPWorks thread- there is some talk there of air turbulence/velocity, etc. and whether or not open pods alone without a velocity stack will make much of a difference..
