Title: Annual San Diego trip transportation ideas
Post by: RB on July 06, 2010, 08:05:28 AM
So every year i have a business trip to San Diego, and every year i venture up to LA on the weekend to visit some friends. In the past I have taken the train, driven(rental car) and rented a bike(awful HD 883 Slugster). This year i have the same plan, but would like to here from some locals about some different options, perhaps cheaper.
Is bus an option? On the East Coast I can go from Baltimore to NYC for $20(Megabus.com) nice clean bus with wifi and electrical outlets. Anything like that exist?

Thanks, also looking for some stuff to do, (local stuff no touristy junk).

Thanks,
RB

oops, i'll be in town from 7/7-716

look into the train. round trip to union station should be cheaper than a rental car and if you have friends in L.A. they should be able to get you there.

I will look into the train again.

I went to bike night last year and will probably stop by this year also.

Honestly I like to check out places the locals frequent, anti-tourist stuff, local music dive/hole in the wall joints. Been to the eldoradobar, heard there is another bar opened up called neighborhood, haven't been by there yet.

The Duc rental is a bit pricey when you figure there is a two day minimum, and I am trying to save some money this trip. Don't get me wrong I would love to have a bike to ride while here, but the money makes me take the trolley.
