Title: ...apathy is death.....(aunty) Post by: auntymal on July 08, 2010, 04:10:12 PM Your CTP is going up.
NSW CTP Greenslips change from 1 July and no one bothered to tell us because they thought we wouldn’t notice. This change was introduced as part of the 8 June Budget by the Labor Government of NSW. Basically the MAA have split the categories of bikes to make it fairer and the insurance companies have taken the opportunity to increase the premiums which the MAA and Roozendaal signed off thereby increasing the costs for almost everyone. As the Government receive about a third of your CTP as the MCIS levy they are set to gain more cash for consolidated revenue through these increases. Costs are going up as much as 84% and the 250s are getting hit the hardest. See below for further details. MCC Chairman Rob Calligan along with Guy Stamford and other stalwarts from the MCC have had a series of meetings with the General Manager of the Motor Accidents Authority (MAA who oversee the CTP scheme) and various other interested parties over the CTP Issue. What it boils down to is the MAA and insurers look to have made a large error with the new CTP arrangements. There is talk they are “..working from the wrong data…” and the MCC and others are trying to rectify this What the MCCof NSW are trying to get rectified and changed through negotiation is; Revisit all CTP Premiums to ensure a fairer CTP system for all riders. A complete review of the Data utilised by the insurance companies to arrive at the figures for our Motorcycle CTP Insurance. LAMS Bikes into the lowest CTP category. This includes the DRZ400's DR650, WR450f, 250's of all kinds etc. Look at the option to expand Recreational Registration to cover more areas in State Forests and not just Stockton Beach. Look at the option for Conditional registration for dirt bikes. If negotiations with the MAA and others do not go as planned we will all be riding on Parliament. The MCCofNSW are organising a ride to Parliament on Tuesday the 31st August from 12 Midday so lock it in people. Why so far away you ask? All the Politicians are off on school holidays (Winter Recess) and none of them are in the big house on Macquarie st, but they are still getting and reading their mail!. Feedback from the politicians so far says you lot have created the largest ruckus that a lot of the Ministers have seen to date on a any issue let alone a Motorcycling issue so keep it up. Maintain the letter writing! What can you do to help? Write a letter to the MP's in the list! Tell your mates. Tell your Mum. Write to your local paper. Talk to the other riders at the parking areas/Traffic lights. Spread the word through the motorcycle forums. Write it in your own words though, that is the most important thing to remember. Any form of communication to the Ministers is fine, snail mail, fax or email. Basically email/write/drop into your local member and The Special Minister of State along with Clover Moore and ask the following; Ask why is this happening Ask what are they doing about it. Ask why the split of capacities is so obviously designed to gouge the maximum amount out of Motorcyclists and bears no relationship to studies on the MAA website. Have a look at some of the clips on youtube about it all, rack up the number of hits on them. Aunty can you provide a link or quotes from these studies please? Navigating their website is like ... well ... navigating a government website. Apathy is an interesting choice of words for this forum - some are actually quite pleased. Considering basically all Monsters fall in the two least effected categories (according to your data) ... I wouldn't expect too much rage. The lower category is saving a substantial amount (hardly reason for complaint) the higher category has minimal increase (substantially less than any other type of insurance I dare to guess for a p.a. increase). Having said that, we may have to seriously consider rolling the Lambretta onto club plates ... having more than one bike is what really hurts you. Title: Re: ...apathy is death.....(aunty) Post by: Betty on July 08, 2010, 04:53:13 PM Oh and the fact that there is now at least three threads dedicated to this issue can we try and keep it together ;D
Title: Re: ...apathy is death.....(aunty) Post by: auntymal on July 08, 2010, 10:25:59 PM ...yeah guys Im probably guilty of "ignorance or forum protocols" etc, no computer expert that's for sure. What tends to happen is I get appeals for help in distributing info and simply kinda just do it, and may have doubled up and done it before etc. A link is the way to go for sure, but I wasn't provided one...so...here we are. apologies for inconvenience; gratitude for patience. kind regards, Aunty

Title: Re: ...apathy is death.....(aunty) Post by: monstermick58 on July 09, 2010, 01:35:30 AM Aunty well done,
Its about time we ALL got off our collective arse's and say something to the grubby politicians that sit on their lazy fat be-hinds and approve anything that will give them more money in the trough for there snouts to grab on to. I don't know how they justify the increase at times, we don't exactly do much damage to third party when we hit them, usually give their car a bit of a dent and that's it. Wouldn't it be great if we can get recreational rego for off road machines like they do in Victoria, but I guess those that make the rules would figure that they might loose out on some revenue, not thinking that people might actually register their dirt bikes. And if you have to ask, yes I will be writing to my local member and asking them the questions about this debacle. Mmick Title: Re: ...apathy is death.....(aunty) Post by: Betty on July 09, 2010, 11:14:40 AM I don't know how they justify the increase at times, we don't exactly do much damage to third party when we hit them, usually give their car a bit of a dent and that's it. Which is why the MCIS levy for bikes (higher than cars) really stinks. I am happy to complain, but I am not willing to do it without the right information. For all I know it is in the correct proportion (ie. less registered bikes causing the most costly injuries) ... and there could be a proportionate number of those caused by 250 riders.
