whether he does or doesn't, he'll certainly be collecting a wallet full of marlboro money....
I guess I'm buying cartons tomorrow and at least for the next two years. Seriously, I hope he leaves Stoner in the dust and Lorenzo too. It would be great to see him win on a Ducati.
awesome [thumbsup] i don't follow motogp races all time but will have to start.
All sorts of awesome. Now I am going to go post in the other thread.

Hayden mentioned that he would prefer a guy like Rossi â€" that have the right skills to develop a bike and not just ride itâ€" as a team mate.
Has anyone actually seen a press release from any of the parties? He's supposed to sign today, but until we see the press release, I will continue my silent prayer.

So they'll be the one fielding three factory bikes.
I'm not believing any of this until Vale confirms it with me by phone! I'm calling Silly Season on this. Of course I'd love to be proven wrong! [thumbsup] Hey, Vale likes Hayden. Well, 2nd best maybe. You must have forgotten about that loud ass Tangerine Red (aka Orange) stripe that they plastered on my S2R800. That color screams Ducati.
So what if Rossi is a living legend. Stuff him in a red suit, slap a bar code on his ass, and send him off with orders to kick Lorenzo's ass. I am sick of Jorge's Ochocinco-ish celebrations. Just ride a wheelie and be done with it man.
Really doesn't matter to me if they paint the Rossi Edition yellow, pink, and teal. I won't be able to afford it.

I don't know why everyone is so excited. The thread says he "sighed". So he took a deep breath. It's not like he "signed" a contract with Ducati.

Or you can update the title... BTW, if he would have signed already, they would have sent a press release. The announcers pretty much assumed he would jump ship.

Can't wait for next season now. But I wonder: Is Rossi getting slow now that he is over 30? Does he still have the mojo? As a long suffering Cubs fan, what will it be like rooting for a guy that has a chance at winning? Rossi, Rossi I am not worthy [bow_down] [bow_down]
He'd be in first or second in the standings if he hadn't busted his leg this year. He's a contender.
Quote from: akmnstr on August 17, 2010, 03:42:49 AM
Is Rossi getting slow now that he is over 30? Does he still have the mojo?
No.
Yes.
Rossi is nowhere near slow. You have to remember he's still better than most everyone on a broken leg. At 75% Rossi is better than 99% of the field.
I believe the stars aligned with his injury happening at the same time his contract was up. It was destiny for him to finish his career on a Ducati. I firmly believe he would be leading the championship right now and Lorenzo would have cracked and fallen a few times this year. Nothing in the past says anything different. Lorenzo looks great because he's benefiting from a bike Rossi pretty much developed. Rossi should have sat out longer.
Stoner won a championship because that bike has the best TC and the most power. As soon as the other bikes were even close to the speed he fell back and cracked. After a short stint at Honda I predict he will also be gone. He's not going to do anything on that Honda but hope for the top five and celebrate getting on the podium.
Bikes are not the same at the end of the year that they were at the beginning. We will see now if Lorenzo can develop a bike next year. I doubt it and by the end of next year he will go the way of the Dodo just like Stoner, Biaggi, and Gibernau did.
This is where I think the departure of Furosawa is going hurt Yamaha is a big way. Especially when the switch over to 1000CC. Ducati and Honda have never had a problem with putting out power. The M1 was never designed to be the fastest bike. It's the best bike because it's the most stable. Just look at it when turning, that thing doesn't budge unlike the Ducati and Honda that bounce all over the place.
The rider that I would worry about right now is the Ben. He is the real deal and I don't think he will have a problem getting many podiums next year. Maybe even a win or two.
As for Rossi, remember the last time he was super motivated he ended Stoners career. Lorenzo will be another victim before it's all said and done. I honestly think at this point in his career it must be difficult to stay motivated at times. He's won the last two championships and now with losing this year and losing the paddock to Lorenzo I believe he will be more than fired up.
Ducati is the perfect team for Rossi. He will win a championship or two with them.

It'll be interesting to see if he can get back on the podium top step with Honda. I don't think his career is "ruined", but I do think Rossi is in his head a bit. I think he'll be a contender next year though.
I think you guys are confusing Stoner with Nicky. Last I checked Stoner is 3rd behind the dominating Lorenzo and the Spanish Turd. And the has a much faster bike. Stoner is plenty fast, just not faster than the other 2.
