Title: Matris Fork Cartridge Top Cap Installation
Post by: chadm800 on July 12, 2010, 05:19:27 AM
Has anyone installed these on their forks.  Just wondering if there is a special tool to screw the top caps into the the top of the forks.  Let me know, much appreciated.

Mine needed just a big socket.  Put a latex glove over the cap first so you don't mess up the anodizing.  Hand tight is all you need/want.  Just seat it, don't torque it!

Sounds good, thanks.  This mod is turning out to be a huge pain in the !!!!.  The cap threads are different for some reason.  Bike totally apart at the dealer costing me $$.  Having to get the threads re-turned locally.

The threads on one of my Matris caps had a small defect/ding that prevented me from fully installing it.  After I identified the issue (not obvious) and applied a small amount of lube it all went together nicely by hand.  Matris uses very hard aluminium and anodizing!  Your problem might well be something different, because I do recall another report of someone from down under that needed to have some sort of machining performed.  It'll be worth it in the end when your handling is transformed....
