I'm seriously considering selling my 888 SPO Superbike. I've realized that I don't ride it nearly enough and almost never as it was meant to be ridden (i.e., fast).
And although I've been seriously thinking about getting a new Multistrada 1200S, I've started to think that maybe I would be just as happy with a KTM 950 Adventure for the kind of riding that I really like. And if I got one of those, I might not need the ST2 anymore, even though I could never sell it for very much.
Would any of you care to convince me that I really don't want to end up with a Honda and a KTM in my garage with no Ducatis?
The world needs pics before an accurate assessment can be made.
No one else would flog the superbike wither. Some crap about it being too valuable.
Me, I would ride it in the rain sliding on tar snakes to work and never wash it because I don't give a shit. It's just a paperweight until you turn the key. You should ride it because no one else will.
Sometimes you have to consider what's best for "the children". Enzo and I had a great little vintage Alfa Romeo...hated to sell it, and it has gone up in value a ton since we did--but it would have been a pile of rust if we'd kept it and now it's being taken care of and driven by someone who's really passionate about them.
Hmm well I can tell you that having a mts1200s has made me seriously consider having only one bike.. It is an excelent compromise (by compromise I mean better than both these bikes at everything except maybe serious off road stuff) between an ST and an Adventure..
Tell you what, bring that 888 and I'll bring my Mts and we can both have ban extended 'demo' ride.. [evil]
Scott, sometimes a change is needed in life. Sometimes it reminds us that we really had it good to start with and just forgot how good it was.
Once in a while the change makes us wonder why we waited so long in the first place
If it's possible can you keep 1 and see after the newness of the ktm wears off whether you still want it? I have been thinking of selling my monster and st2 also as i haven't ridden them much but i am going to try to fall back in lust with them first. good luck with your decision, Hog
Someone recently offered to take pictures of my bike. All the time he was shooting, there gathered a small crowd, admiring the bike, and taking pictures of their own. If I remember correctly, didn't you take your 888 to a Monday night meet at Pizza Attica? You got the same kind of attention, and you always will. You'll miss it for sure.

the 888 will ALWAYS have the chance of being THAT bike. the one that is worth a mint. i think you should decide. ok, not riding it, properly restore it, and put it in the living room.
the ST will be the maintenance hog, it will consume your money with little in return on the sale. it's a nice ride and you can enjoy touring... but...
sell the ST, get the MTS, that way you can ride it as fast as the 888 and enjoy the touring of the ST.
Sell the ST for a KTM, but keep the 888. They are becoming a rare sight these days, and it would be a shame if it eventually made its way to a twit of an owner, and subsequently into a ditch.
Just my 2¢.
Trackday with the 888 [evil]
I'll by the ST2 and sell my triumph.
You dont know what you've got, until its gone.
If you sell the 888, I will put a song on YouTube called "Scott paved paradise, and put up a parking lot."

Good luck with the sale, Scott. I understand where you're coming from, I considered selling my 851 a year or so ago (for an ST though). Of course, not too long after the fuel pump died... and I need to fix that.
It is a very easy and fun bike to ride fast but I at least am especially particular about where since finding replacement parts is a difficult and expensive proposition.
I am sure you will have fond memories of having been owned yours forever. It's a beaut.
OK fine, let me be blunt: You're a more interesting person with the 888 than without. [cheeky]
Things are getting serious now. The 888 is gone, and I just found out that the local KTM dealer has a 990 Adventure demo bike on sale at a very good price. I've VERY tempted to buy it, then sell my ST2 for cheap.
Last chance to try to talk me out of becoming a non-Ducati rider for the first time in 13 years.

But.....the KTM has no soul?

Actually, it does. It has a nice V-twin in it and everything.
KTMs are made by Austrians. It will function perfectly but one day it will turn on you and make the beast with two backs you hard.
I give up... after the 888 sale, you've officially lost your Ducati-mind.

I was being sarcastic-there is no soul factory installed, as some claim.
Also, why do we care if you sell your ducs? G'wan and do it-you're an adult.

you're only saying that to justify the BMW purchase ;)
It's too late now. As soon as I can clean up the ST2 it goes on sale. Anybody want it, for $2000.00.

Dang, I coulda traded you my Gran Canyon for your ST and you wouldn't have had to do the KTM thing.
If you dare to ask, then i'd say it's time to sell them, but it looks like you already have :-X
Here's the ad for it:

You only need matching gear for posing, which you don't do on a KTM.
Speaking of matching gear, I'll be listing my two-piece Dainese leathers for sale soon. Size 54, which is the same as a 44 suit coat.
The one I'm wearing in this photo that also says Ducati on each arm, with matching black pants that say Ducati on the left leg.

Hmmm. I'm a size 54 extra-medium (aka beer gut)

I've got a
big beer gut. If it fits and the price is right, I
am in need of new leathers.
