Title: Headed to the dyno, more ecu questions
Post by: Monsterlover on July 13, 2010, 04:16:55 PM
Bike:  Was 99 750ss ie

is now: 900ss ie.  I reused the harness and swapped the engine and ecu.

The bike had DP pipes and a stock airbox lid when I got it.  Ive since cut the lid for more air.

I got a PC2 off ebay and damned if I just tonight found out I got the wrong one.  It's for a 00-01 750 or 900ss and I've got the 99.

I just need to know where the bike is at fuel wise, hence the dyno.  At this point I can either run the stock 900ss ecu i have now, or the original 750ecu which is the DP version.  I know it worked fine when it was a 750.

I already destroyed one 900 engine last year in this bike.  However, Im convinced that had everything to do with a dropped intake valve and not so much a fuel issue, though I did feel it was lean.

At this point I can dyno with either ecu, and I have an extra uncut airbox lid that I could throw on there to lean things out.

Thoughts?

Have you tried fitting the PC anyway yet?

If you can hook it up, it "might" end up working for you.

Some models are exactly the same just with different lengths of wire...

Really?

I know for sure the 99 900ecu cannot be replaced by a 2000 900 ecu, the pinouts are different and while the bike will crank, it won't fire up.

I'll try it anyway.

Wait a minute, I'm talking about the PC = Power Commander!?!?!

On those years, does the PC just connect to the injectors, or to the main harness?

It plugs in between the ecu and the ecu plug on the harness

What's to lose by plugging it in and setting it to waaaaay too rich and seeing if the thing runs....

waaaaay too rich?

Ew, I got nothing then.  All the ones I've worked with just plugged into the injectors and the TPS.

As you were...
