Just wondering of anyone has installed a complete superbike front end on their Monster. I know the rake may be slightly different but are the stems the same length and diameter?
In case you're wondering why I'm asking, I would like a specific set of fork cartridges but they don't make them for my S4Rt forks but they do make them for the 1098.
I suppose I could just buy the aftermarket triples for the superbike conversion but they are pretty expensive. Plus, what fun would that be? Lol
the offset is different if I'm not mistaken. .
also the superbikes have that funky top triple with the mount for the steering damper.
Is there a reason you can't bore/shim the stockers?

The steering stem diameter used to be an issue.
Not sure on the ST framed bikes.

Stem length may be an issue, top triple has extra tab as Raux said, sbk offset is 36mm and the monster is probably the same or higher, 1098 bottom triples are for an adjustable headstock so the steering stop tabs are different from the monster. If the stem length turns out to be the same you could use a lower off a non-adjustable like a 848 or some of the 748s. I can measure the stem length on a couple sbk triples I have at home tomorrow.
Yes- it is offset from stem-out diagonally. For the 1098 forks I worked on for a 696, it was a little bit of offset left to right which can be adjusted, but the distance from the stem to the forks is shorter I believe so there isn't really a way to make it work (at least on a 696 with 1098 triples).
Steering stops/lock are different also.

Contact the IMA SrL guys for custom triples - they can make them for your Monster for SBK forks for a fraction of what the SpeedyMoto triples cost. Somewhere just over 425 delivered, and with the 30mm offset from the newer Monsters (Older Monsters were at 25, pre-696 newer Monsters were at 30, and sbks at 36mm).
Your standard monster forks are 50/54mm diameters (top/bottom), and the superbike forks are 53/53mm. Ohlins are 53/56mm.
Older Monsters (pre-02) had the skinnier steering stem (with tapered bearings), and newer Monsters had the bigger stem (with ball bearing style steering head bearings). The length of the stem is different on non-adjustable stem bikes and adjustable stem (big-bore) superbikes.

Just putting a SBK front end on a monster would be a great way to SLOW the steering way down. Your S4Rt has 30mm offset.

"i believe" that the 748 non adj. will swap with the 749 non.-adj. and the 848. haven't been able to grab ahold of enough different ones to examine differences just yet.

I also *believe* that is true, I have a lower from an adjustable 748 and 1098 and they are the same part numbers even though the steering stops are adjustable on the 1098 and fixed on the 748.
