Title: Propane powered string trimmers
Post by: 1KDS on July 19, 2010, 05:52:14 PM
The starter string spring has sprung on my current pos 2-smoke and I recently heard about lp powered trimmers.  I'm looking at the Lehr brand specifically as those seem to be the most readily available units in my area.  Anyone have experience with one of these or lp trimmers in general?

I don't know anything about the LP but I am a firm believer in Stihl branded low emissions engines.
You might check those out. Lots of power and no smoke.

As an aside why does your avatar translate to "thanks for reading this artivle from Ubergizmo. Come back soon"

I have one(Lehr), it's fine.

Pro: quieter, easier to deal with the canisters than liquid fuel, won't leak fuel when you use it at odd angles, less of a need to change oil as there are fewer contaminates in propane than gas.
Cons: It's a bit heavier than normal and is just a tad bit weaker.

It's good for people with medium/smaller yards, say about an acre or less. I disconnect the canister after every use as I think mine was leaking propane. Either way I'm glad I got one.
