Now I can't read the forum at work because our stupid virus software checks this site. McAfee IS a virus and is the only thing to bring down our network and screw up our machines. I'd rather take my chances with the viruses on the net. They are less destructive and intrusive than McAfee.
The dmf gave me herpes.

They don't have a problem with personal web surfing. They block it because they think it is evil.
mwa ha ha ha ha
(it's all in the first 'mw' in the hahahaha)
Our hospital uses Barracuda blocking software. A zillion sites get "barracuda'ed," including practically anything to do with healthcare (just try looking up "current breast cancer statistics!") I've complained about how incredibly inappropriate this is to the director of IT several times.
The absolute best, though, was when the IT department requested that I do a demo of the electronic prescribing "software" we use, which is actually a website. There, in front of the hospital CEO and the IT director, the Barracuda screen popped up when I tried to access the e-prescribing site, and said it was forbidden because the site was "business-related."

+1 to the mcafee rant. My computer basically becomes unuseable when it starts it weekly scan. I just leave my desk for 3 or 4 hours.

Odd......I happen to have a McAfee security system ......and another one provided by my ISP and they co-exist .
I think I'll delete the McAfee one.

It's because you are trying to look at breasts. I'd block you too.

I'm feeling kind of excited.. 8)
I thought this thread would be about divorce & re-marriage.... Silly me, but yes...we are evil! [evil]
our IT monkeys are just about as bad. We purchased a very expensive streaming media suite for classroom use. Streaming media is blocked, no exceptions. Anything categorized as a "blog" is also blocked, which limits current events analysis to have students critique. It often seems that everything the internet has that is useful for education is blocked in the school where I work.
AVG Free rocks!
