Title: larger fly screens
Post by: leungevity on July 23, 2010, 04:16:20 AM
was wondering who makes a larger fly screen that will bolt into the existing plastic housing that comes with the bike.  just something a little bit taller that maybe is easier to hide behind and deflects a little more wind when on the highway.

Thanks!

Zero Gravity makes a taller option to replace the stock windscreen on 2000-08 bikes.

thanks for the link!  is this the only option out there?

anybody have reviews for this windscreen in regards to performance?  i.e. wind blocking on the highway?

My ZG Touring lifts the wind by 3,4,5 inches.
More importantly, it's much more stable than the stock screen.

Australian Eagle Screen has about 15 other models, but they're not showing pictures...
PM me your email and I'll forward the pictures and descriptions I got from them.

(if you'd like me to - I'll throw in suggestions about nice riding pants as well ;D) (from your NEMHA post)

lol, i wish the the big hole in the jeans is from knee dragging with so much precision i just shaved open the material and not my skin... alas, it's from my big toe while stepping into them that did them in finally...

PM on the way :)

I don't know about the quotes, but the email says to order by email and pay by credit card.

oh, ok, thanks... any idea how the quality and fit is compared the the ZG?  lots of people seem to like their ZG, but haven't seen much word on the Aussie gear.

Thanks

They have been discussed in Oz Monsters (Australian local club board). From what I remember - all good.
You can post a question to check?

MRA makes a couple sizes. I've got the 'spoiler screen' for the cold weather.

thanks for the reply Nibor, which one do you have?

Yuu, do you have pics of the one you have (preferably on the bike)?  i see the stock pic, but can't really tell the shape... how is it different than the stock fly screen?

Not my bike - but I found one. I only have it on when it's gotten rather chilly

It's a bit longer than stock making it taller. Also, as you can see in that photo it's got a bit of a kicked up lip that helps direct more air up and if it was just a smooth piece.

Yuu, why do you only run it in the cold?  does it block too much wind normally?

I have a GIVI that was on my bike when I bought it. You can have it if you want. I don't think I have the mounting brackets.

kop, does it mount to the stock flyscreen plastic fairing thing?

I can probably find a way of mounting it with stuff from home depot...

I'd love to give it a try, if not just to make riding on the highway more pleasant!

Pm me your address and I'll send it to you. If you can't use it, you can send it to someone else or throw it out. It
has been sitting in the corner collecting dust for years.

It's rooted in aesthetics. I like the mire naked look
