Title: Showa shock - '05 S4R
Post by: sidm on July 26, 2010, 07:26:12 AM
I've got a leaky rear shock on my '05 S4R and am in the process of finding a replacement. I don't want to drop the coin for a new one from the factory or an ohlins piece of bling.

Question - since i'm keeping an eye out on ebay for a replacement, does anyone know what other ducs have the same shock for this swap? SS, an older SBK, other?

Showa kit is serviceable - why not have yours resealed?

or even better idea....get a racetech valve kit, and re-spring it for your weight and riding style! No better time to upgrade than when something needs fixin!

i'm far from a wrench, and have a lot of work done by a great shop in the area. i was told that the seals on this particular shock are really tough to come by and that most people end up buying a used shock off of the interwebs.

sounds like it's worth re-confirming if that's the case. otherwise, would still love to know if i have any other options on a shock swap.

thanks again for the feedback peps.

if you can get a rebuild kit do it. if not then, 999 showa will fit.
