Title: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: spaugh on June 05, 2008, 08:24:19 PM I've got full floaters on my s2r 800 dark that the PO had installed. I have a broken brake lever that I need replaced and I don't know what part I need since its not stock. At least I don't think its stock. Can you guys let me know what I've got? BTW, my brakes work great.

SBKnhas round pee cups dont it? Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: Speeddog on June 05, 2008, 11:41:33 PM Older SBK have the round separate reservoirs.
That does indeed look like a 749/999 radial master. BTW, I think those rotors are a bit rare and worth some money. Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: teddy037.2 on June 06, 2008, 12:30:34 AM +1 on the 749/999 radial MC
those calipers are the fancy ones as well... I am SO jealous right now :-\ Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: Slide Panda on June 06, 2008, 02:55:32 AM What's special about those calipers? To me they look like normal 40mm mount 2-pad 4 piston calipers.
And +1 one more for the 749/999 radial masters. But yeah, none of that break set up is stock Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: spaugh on June 06, 2008, 10:29:14 AM sounds like I scored on the brakes, only thing is they are a little twitchy. If I lay on them to hard too fast, the front end locks up fairly easily.
Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: Slide Panda on June 06, 2008, 11:09:04 AM Those are 'finesse' brakes ;)
Without knowing what sort of pads are in there, I'm just guessing here - but a less aggressive pad might be more to your liking. The former owner might have something like sintered pads that have a lot of initial bite Title: Re: which brakes do I have? [laugh] [drink] Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: Spike on June 06, 2008, 02:50:04 PM I have the same cast iron rotors on my bike and I am runnnig Ferodo Platinum organic pads as opposed to the sintered pads. I get more feel and the organic pad will help the rotor last longer. My .02 cents. :)
Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: Speeddog on June 06, 2008, 02:53:36 PM I ran Ferodo Platinums on my iron discs with basically the same calipers.
Moderate initial bite, but plenty of power. Title: Re: which brakes do I have? [laugh] [drink] Have another [thumbsup] The 65mm to 40mm adapters should have made you look twice.. but if you had the T-googles on then you might have just seen 4 calipers. What bike are those rotors off of? Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: jerryz on June 07, 2008, 03:34:08 AM the calipers are regular goldline , the rotors look like Brembo CZ racing full floaters or Vesrah , interesting because when I got some they had a special 4mm offset and would not fit normal Ducatis only RR models.

Those are the Brembo rotors. Could be that the 4mm offset is made up for by the caliper mount adapter. Title: Re: which brakes do I have? PICS included Post by: spaugh on June 07, 2008, 08:09:27 PM I went dirtbiking with the previous owner today. She says the brake setup came off an old superbike.
