Post by: cyrus buelton on July 29, 2010, 05:15:49 AM
Let's try this again.

Alcoholic
Anger issues
Mild megalomania

That's about it.

And if he learns to control the first, the other two won't matter as much.

I think what Hoopy Goldturd said about him is probably true - he's not a "real" racist, but like many people, they get drunk and say inordinately stupid things.

Bingo...although I am not certain there is a mild megalomania  isn't that like "slightly pregnant"?

Possibly alcoholic with all the attendant disorders that come with it...

rein in the booze then yes...possibly less overt

but still a Gordian's Knot of unresolved character and personality issues

that fueled the addiction to begin with

In regards to this...........would you say better or worse than Alexander the Great?

How is that condition any different then a narcissist?

the difference is how it manifests.  he has the ability to control it, which is why he comes across as so charming -- when he is sober.  if it was full-blown megalomania, he couldn't control it at all -- think Kim Jong Il.

I never studied his face close enough to see if he has gin-blossoms and Irish road maps...I'll take your word on that

if he is a full blown alky he will manifest any number of potential disorders and pathologies ranging from sociopathic to narcissistic etc

His tirade falls right in line with his DUI/DWI or whatever he got a year or two ago.

It's odd though.......his ex-wife or a previous girlfriend said he never acted like that.

So you do raise a good point.

I've only heard the audio off the radio, is there ever a point where she is talking to see what she says?

(note: not condoning his tirades as they are just plain and simple make the beast with two backsed up)

But alcohol is also a truth serum. During the Search for the Manchurian Candidate days the CIA searched high and low for the perfect truth serum. Ultimately they didn't find anything more effective than alcohol. So while alcohol does blur judgment and wisks that little angle off of your shoulder when its says, "You shouldn't do that," it does not put the devil on the other shoulder. No sir, that bad idea was already there in your sick, sober mind. Drunk you is just able to be honest enough to admit you really want to follow through on that bad idea.

just because someone thinks something doesn't mean it's a heart-felt belief.  plenty of people have everyone has deep-seated fears and prejudices that don't affect your behavior dramatically when you are sober.

to expect anyone to be bias-free is absurd.  we all have them.

For example Rat hates mimes, for a small fee he will repeatedly call your home and go on drunken tirades about them.

Me, when I'm drunk I just talk more and faster but don't seem to say bad things about anyone. Must mean that at my core I'm a dullard lacking sufficient hate to be interesting.  :'(

This is a very interesting point.  I believe it is completely normal for Ozzies to get pissed, punch their girlfriends in the face and rant about n****rs.  And I know plenty of Ozzies, and none of them are wife beaters or racists despite this behavior.

DP are there no rules around here regarding making such offensive generalisations??

However, as a lawyer you do spend more time associating with low-life than do most of us. FWIW I know plenty of lawyers who earn their living by eloquently lying through their teeth.  All of them are honest as the day is long apparently :-*

Rat and Poe used to hang out on the Bronx street corners hustling.

We had to send poor Edgar off to the Bronx,

thanks to him we were no longer welcome in the taverns of the Village...

no darker a worldview has a human held, than did Edgar...a snout-full and he was up in oratory at the bar end

spouting prose that would remind the patrons of the blackest of eulogies

delivered at the most painful burials of loved-ones in their recollections

the very sight of him could empty a bar of its finest trollops as they knew

he would soon reduce their potential clients to sobbing maudlin puddles, lusts rendered flaccid by Edgar's sentiments

dear Edgar was perpetually in the death-grip of such a grim inebriation

we felt his brand of excesses were best suited for the Bronx

I agreed to meet him up there but instead found my way to a Tavern in Gramercy on Irving

where years later I met a fine gentleman who went by the name of O. Henry

a convicted embezzler quite handy with a pen and an open bar tab
