Title: my road trip on the Monster
Post by: daftduc on July 30, 2010, 08:02:19 AM
I recently got back from a little road trip I took. I worked the Moondance Jam in Walker MN.  So since I was already up there I figured I'd continue on and make a road trip out of it.  I rode up to the extreme northwest corner of MN.  Then road down the western border until I reached Iowa.  Then I worked my way along the Southern border and back to the TC.  I simply did it cause I haven't been up to that area of the state before and I wanted to see it.  I'm glad I did.  I saw a wide range of terrain on this trip.  And the Monster wasn't all that bad of a long distance bike.  I usually put on over 300 miles a day.

Monster in pack mule mode.

On my way to Itasca State Park.

I never had any problems with my load out.  I kept imagining if my pack suddenly shifted way over to one side how much time I'd have to correct myself before I'm in the ditch.

I know.. I know... saddle baggin' the Monster  >:(, I'd much rather do that to her than take the cage though.

Hey, I was through Mankato myself recently to see family.  The trip there was shitty busy traffic on bumpy roads with roadkill odor steaming off the highway in the 90-plus degree heat.  And then in-route on the ride home to Minneapolis, I managed to lose my wallet, containing my credit cards my debit cards and my DL.   And just to put a cherry on top, I got a nice expensive speeding ticket in Belle Plaines.

But I still love a road trip and especially on a Ducati!

I'd like to take another trip along the eastern border of MN now.  Then ride along the northern border to the Angle Inlet.  I've always wanted to go to the MN chimney.  The only place in America where by land you have to leave the country in order to get back into the country you were just in.

oh I wouldn't consider it on my M620, I've driven the AlCan
many times and even though it's said to be fully paved, it's not.
