Title: What are the caliper/master bleeder thread sizes/pitches?
Post by: DucHead on August 02, 2010, 11:11:46 AM
After fitting Speed Bleeders on my Bandit, I want to put them on my Monster as well.

I'd like to avoid removing the OEM bleeders to measure thread pitches and sizes, so can anyone tell me those values for the OEM Brembo masters and calipers on my '05 S4R?

Thanks,
  Dave

10X1.0

Not that one should doubt the 'painter, but I can confirm.  M10x1.0

Just to clarify, the OEM brake fitment for an '05 S4R is widely known as goldlines.

I suspect early calipers and masters may be different on the bleeds.
But I've not checked, as I've never had reason to pull one out.  :-\

As far as the banjo fittings, everything's been 10x1 for what I've had my hands on.

And the winner is....Speeddog!!   ;D

Normally, I wouldn't doubt anyone who posted here either, but I had about 1 mm of thread to bias me.   ;D

So, I pulled one and it's M8 x 1.25.   [moto]

Bleeder should be SMALLER than a 10!?!?!  Banjo, sure. Bleeder...?

I would have guessed smaller than 8, but i guess i would have been wrong.

Front caliper...I wonder if the front brake master is the same?

I've been trying to work this out to replace them for brakes and clutch lines for my S4RS with (Radial Brembo monoblocs). This is where I'm at. Can anyone confirm or fill in the blanks ???

Front Brake Master Cylinder

Bleeder ???

Front Brake Callipers
Banjo M10 x1.0 â€" with bleeder - same Ducati part number as for clutch slave cylinder
Bleeder M8 x 1.25 - same Ducati part number as for clutch slave cylinder

Rear Brake Master Cylinder
Banjo Bolt M ? x ?? - same Ducati part number as for clutch master cylinder

Rear Brake Calliper
Banjo Bolt M8 x 1.0 - same Ducati part number as for clutch master cylinder
Bleeder

Clutch Master Cylinder
Banjo Bolt M ? x ?? - same Ducati part number as for rear brake master cylinder & calliper

Clutch Slave
Banjo Bolt M10 x1.0 â€" with bleeder - same Ducati part number as for front brake calliper
Bleeder M8 x 1.25 - same Ducati part number as for front brake calliper

I've mixed all (S2R1K & 749/999) of the front end masters and caliper banjos, and they were all the same thread wise.

I finally got around to replacing these and for posterity, I'm listing the bleeder thread sizes here for a desmoquattro S4R.

Front brake calipers = M8x1.25
Front brake master cylinder = M6x1
Clutch slave = M7x1
Rear brake caliper = M10x1
