Title: where to get gsxr forks rebuilt
Post by: speedevil on June 06, 2008, 03:59:10 AM
I have a set of 05-06 gsxr 1000 forks to go onto my 695.  I also have a set of .85 springs for them from traxxion.  I'm looking for a reputable shop to rebuild the forks, new seals, wipers, bushings, install the new springs, and new fork oil.  I'm in the Chicago area, any recommendations?

Once the forks are ready, I would expect about 4 hours to swap them.  I had the spacers made by qfactor, very nice work.

Once you get them installed, please tell us all about your installation and riding experiences! Looking forward to it! Good luck!

I used Cogent Dynamics in NC to do similar work on a 695 gsx-r conversion.

What year are the forks?  I ask because the bushings on those suckers arent supposed to be removeable.  They are next to (if not) impossible to find on the market and we ended up having these hand machined by a guy local to cogent.

Mine was an 03-04 fork.

Mine are from an 05-06 gsxr 1000.  If the bushings aren't removable, then I will just replace the seals myself.  The forks I bought are basically brand new.  I just thought if I could get the bushings and seals replaced along with the springs and oil that I would be ahead in the long run.  I found a post on the gixxer.com forums about replacing the seals and it doesn't mention the bushings.  I need to make a couple of tools for the job, and the post tells you how to make the needed tools.  Nice.
