It is reassuring that the perpetrators have been suspended.

Huh? How's this a slight on democracy?? Did not your democratically elected representatives long ago enact a law-of-the-land which mandates the wearing of seat belts? I dont recall hearing about any widespread civil unrest desputing the enforcement of such a legal obligation.
Except for Mr Special here. His outrageous criminal activity deserved the full force of the Old Bill. In Australia the Upholders of the Right would've shot his criminal arse on sight. ;)
Law breaking mofo [laugh]
So basically runs one cop over, drives off, for 17 miles and thinks the lights and sirens are an escort!
He should be happy, here in the US he would have been tazed and maybe shot.

I think "maybe shot" is a bit overboard.

I do not think it is an overstatement to say that he could have been shot. Reading the news leads me to believe that it is a likely outcome.

Bobbie's don't carry firearms; they only carry beat sticks.

Tell that to Oscar Grant.
[roll] Better title: Better not hit a [leo] with a 3 ton vehicle and run off while in Wales. or just about anywhere else in the world for that matter.
sounds like he has a history of traffic violations, and dislike for officers. combine that with knocking one down with his vehicle......

that was an unfortunate incident where he grabbed his gun instead of the tazer.
He is paying the price for it by some time behind bars.
Accidents happen. That was a bad one.

A vehicle is a deadly weapon when you try to run someone over with it. I have a friend here who has a "friend" that is awaiting trial for attempted murder or something with a vehicle (he tried to run two people over, then when he missed he got out his unlicensed gun and started shooting at them). Needless to say, he has some prison time with bubba coming up.
If someone tried to run me over (as I am sure some on here might want to) you are damn right I am going to draw and fire.

Senile is. Poor guy probably should not have been driving if his condition was as bad as he made it out to be.
