I actually like some of his stuff. I just don't think it appropriate to give the HM a big fat rear tire.

I just get the impression of a wannabe. little rich kid gangster.   I've seen him flashing the hand signs, around here, that is gangster behavior.   I don't know if he is just trying to be cool with the younger people, but if you show any kind of sympathy for gang members, as in flashing hand signs, I don't want anything to do with you.   Kind of like that car building show, with the midget, tattoed guy, always flashing gang signs.

He was the 1998 AMA 250GP National Champion.  [thumbsup]

That's why I like him taking something that would be expected to be slow and handle like a dog and turn it into something rideable. Now, when you do the opposite to a bike that is meant to handle great, I take issue with it.

Man, you should probably be more sensitive toward people with hearing impairment. American sign language is a recognized language with it's own vocabulary and grammatic structure. Just saying, we don't want to get this thread locked.

You serious? Go cry in your little corner and let the adults have a conversation.

He might not like all my mods, but I presume that the most expensive ones he would approve of.

He's a good bike designer, but he has questionable taste in wheels that's for damn sure.

He actually addressed that in some interview I can't find right now.  The interviewer called him out on it, and he said it was a conscious decision to diversify the Hypermotard into a different market.  I would never put a similar tire on my HM or my Monster, but maybe were just not the market they're trying to reach.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to find another KTM to turn into a street machine/fun toy.

KTM is great....they make so few bikes there is no OFF ROAD USE ONLY stamp on the vin tag....here in GA you can walk in and get a plate for one!

GP motorcycles here in San Diego just got burned by the DMV on that exact issue except I think it was Husqvarna. CARB and DMV told GP different stories, in the end cost GP a pile of money

Paul at GP is a good guy from the belly button out.  What the state did to him is nothing less than criminal.  He is honest and honorable, and the use of our tax money to persecute him is despicable.  In the end these two agencies turned on him to cover up their collective incompetence.

I couldn't agree more, Paul is the best, just meant it as a cautionary tale. When government agencies are involved anything can happen

guys, specific motorcycle related info regarding legislation and who to contact, what to do etc. is ok.  (the NYC noise stuff organizing here and info for example).

posting factual stuff about aftermarket/small manufacturers and who to contact to voice concern as a motorcyclist: cool.  general 'politicians suck' the gubmint sucks' etc. : not cool.

let's keep it on track.

If directed towards myself...I never said politicians suck, those are your words - poor choice and very similar to CARB and their misrepresentation of their press release.  If you read the article, you can see who CARB and the DMV are still getting it wrong.  Stupid?  Idiots?  Possibly.  My comment was on holding our elected "idiots" accountable.  Nothing 'bout them sucking.   [roll]

I like folks expressing themselves, just don't like folks taking something that works and turning it into something that doesn't or better yet taking something that doesn't work and turning it into something that does, like a Storz conversion, a bimota, or a NCR. - Gene
