Title: Jury Duty Post by: Stinky Wizzleteats on August 08, 2010, 09:23:34 PM Yep, I got called up.
Thinking that I wouldn't get picked to go in the jury, yep, I got called up. Thinking that the defence counsel would challenge my being on the jury so I could go home. Nah, the pr*ck didn't say a word. I'm stuck on jury duty. make the beast with two backs IT! >:( Yes, I won't be writing anything about it here as it could be bad joojoo. Anybody else been called or served on a jury? Come on! Why pick me? I'm the last person you should pick! [evil] Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Betty on August 08, 2010, 09:49:12 PM Yes, I won't be writing anything about it here as it could be bad joojoo. That would be one way to get out of jury duty. Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Jukie on August 08, 2010, 10:55:29 PM i have been called up 3 times o'course before i work for the [leo]. now if i get called up its not for jury duty
Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Dockstrada on August 08, 2010, 11:35:09 PM One word "TINNITUS" [thumbsup] You got a good doctor ;) Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Monstar_100 on August 08, 2010, 11:36:33 PM Just say you know the defendant... its a conflict of interest... then the rest of the day for a [beer]/ [wine] or [moto]
Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: techno on August 08, 2010, 11:40:58 PM I never knew anyone who got called up until recently. Now, lots of people I know have been roped into it.
I'm exempt because I know too much about what happens when they send you out of the room. Think of it as doing your civil duty in putting some scumbag away, or letting someone innocent go free. Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Dockstrada on August 08, 2010, 11:42:05 PM Here is another idea, turn up with one of these and ask the to speak up [thumbsup]

[drink] [wine]
Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: monstermick58 on August 08, 2010, 11:58:47 PM I've done two stints, actually got me out of work for a while, but now, I think I would rather pass.
Mmick Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: heatherp on August 08, 2010, 11:59:42 PM Yep. I got called up and picked first and only time about 7 years ago. One day case of someone having a few too many plants growing in his back yard - all for personal use of course. Rather boring really apart from the drama queen acting of the lawyers (no disrespect to any lawyer friends reading this [roll] [cheeky])
Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Wells on August 09, 2010, 12:12:00 AM Hrm, got called up once for what was going to be a four week case.
Ended up being selected head juror (forgot to step backwards).. Anyway, a couple of days in I submitted a question to the judge which caused the trial to be restarted with a new Jury ??? Everyone was asked to pack their things and head home. To be honest, at the time I think everyone was excited to be serving their Civic Duty. Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: heatherp on August 09, 2010, 02:05:16 AM Hate to think what you asked the Judge :o [laugh]
Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: dragonworld. on August 09, 2010, 04:03:48 AM Mighta been a question as to whether black fishnets and suspenders go with his (The Judge) white frilly knickers!? [cheeky] [thumbsup]
About the 3rd time I got called up I got selected on a case involving a Viet guy that played dumb and innocent and was accused of extortion with menaces and standover tactics. Getting protection money from asian businesses. :o We found him guilty of 2 out of the 3 charges. Afterwards we found out his priors!! :o :o Evil little focker, he had previously shot people, tortured people, beaten people up, you name it. I'm glad that they are changing the law so that priors can be read out in court!! Otherwise scumbags like this bozo would continue to get slaps on the wrist! [roll] I reckon the Barristers should be in the Actors Guild! What performances?? [clap] [bow_down] Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Mr.S2R on August 09, 2010, 10:44:37 AM has anyone NOT been picked? I have never been called up! Mind you here in sleepy SA nothing exciting every happens.... [laugh]
Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: suzyj on August 09, 2010, 11:02:21 AM I've never been picked either. I wouldn't mind if I was though, as long as it wasn't one of those six month drawn out affairs.
Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: madalf71 on August 09, 2010, 11:15:27 AM Re Betty, that's a fine line to contempt of court, more serious than most crimes.
Been put on the list twice, gone in once, but my name wasn't called. I was excused from the long cases due to work commitments, letter provided by employer. Have fun. Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Betty on August 09, 2010, 01:33:02 PM Re Betty, that's a fine line to contempt of court, more serious than most crimes. Hey I only said it was a way to get out of jury duty ... didn't say it would keep you out of court - and you'd never get called up again. Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: Stinky Wizzleteats on August 10, 2010, 04:01:17 PM GOOOOOOONE. :P
Title: Re: Jury Duty Post by: madalf71 on August 10, 2010, 04:26:23 PM Betty, good one!
