I got a competition werkes tail chop kit for my '96 m900.  There appears to be nowhere to put the turn signals.  I did the entire chop, messed around with trying to find a spot for them, but had to go somewhere.  So I threw everything back together, now I'm hoping someone can help me figure out where the turn signals go before I get a ticket for not having any...

When I ordered the kit it said that some modification would be necessary for it to fit on a 94-99 monster.  So, It SHOULD work somehow, I just can't figure it out.  Any help would be great, thanks guys!

It has instructions, but for later model monsters, or after '99.  I believe the minor mods indicated are not in the instructions.  I have nowhere to mount my brackets.  The older monster's tails are shorter and run into the key release for the seat.  The tail chop length i did is perfect, but the brackets for the turn signals will not mount anywhere.  So I have the brackets and some screws and nuts extra.

I'm not sure if this helps or not but I made a bracket out of aluminum that bolts to the tail light mounting screws and extends under the seat and out to hold my turn signals.

Hit the tutorial page, and about 15 down you will see a how to tail chop post. it has many pics and should be able to clear things up.

That is for the newer monsters, using the same kit.  The back ends are completely different.

How about posting some pics and maybe someone could help out?

I just did a tail chop on my '04 - made my own brackets for the plate and taillight. For the turn signals, they are just "L" brackets right from the taillight.

I'll try to put some pictures up when I have a little more time.  The problem is that on the right side the seat lock blocks them if I try to mount them by the license plate light, and if I try to mount them by the tail light the cable clamp get in the way on the left side.

Get one of these sTD tail chop bracket.  Bolts right on, and so does the tail light and turn signals.

xarlo, I've got the same year monster as you... my prior owner fab'd a plateholder w. drilled tabs for the rear blinkers when he did his chop.  I'll try to post pics this weekend.

Where can one find the sTD chop bracket?

Thanks for the responses guys, I even got a great offer from Jeff H at Monster Parts on some turn signals that use the bolts from the plate holder.  That would have been the perfect solution if I was living in the states right now, but the European license plate sticks out to exactly the same distance as the size of the signals.
     At the end of the day I decided the easiest thing to do would just to get an integrated taillight, so I ordered on of those and that should fix the problem.

So, I guess we'll see you here again when you have the usual LED signal problems.  :P j/k
