I swapped out the stock three-spoke wheels from my 2000 M900i.e. and did a SSS mod to the bike, using S*R wheels in place of them. In the process I conveniently lost the metal ring with the tab on it that goes in the stock speedo drive, so I've got no speedo/odometer at the moment. I've been looking for that simple tabbed ring piece, and yet I've heard that the S*R wheels won't accept it since those bikes use a rear-wheel speed sensor. Can anyone here confirm any of this?
I'd otherwise think to keep looking for that tabbed ring piece, or buy another one, if the S*R front wheel has the same notch in it as the M900 wheel does. Otherwise I've got to figure something else out.
Thanks for your input/thoughts! [thumbsup]

Think you would be out of luck - there's nothing to turn the ring with tabs and spin the cable drive. They use a pickup off the rear rotor.
I'm sure the wheel could be modified for it though.
At first glance at the title, I thought you were going from a 20mm front axle to a 25mm front axle (as done when converting to SBK forks), and I was going to say - hey, just get a 25mm speedo drive. Not the case.
'02 and later Monsters do have the speedo sensor on the rear wheel.
But all of them that I've seen still have the machining done in the front wheel for the mechanical speedo drive.
They even have the seal installed.
You should be able to get the drive ring and be all set.
There you has it
Excellent! That all helps very much - thanks [clap]
In terms of the front axle, I actually did an SBK front end conversion as well, and still have the larger diameter axle.
Sounds like I'm good to go by way of finding that speedo drive ring....anyone have one??
Thanks.
