Title: No rise clip ons - throttle cable and suspension help please
Post by: PhoenixS4R on August 11, 2010, 06:05:46 AM
Hey guys...

I installed a pair of Apex no-rise clip ons to my 2005 s4r a few months ago... love them, however during a recent service the technician noticed that the throttle doesn't snap back as smoothly as it should. I hadn't noticed it before and it hasn't caused me grief yet, but I'd rather it not. He recommended a shorter throttle cable. Where can I find one? Are they standard through all motorcycles? How much shorter do you think I should get it?

Also, since I'm dating again and she can friggin cook like a goddess I think my plans to get down to 225lbs have kinda gone away... lol. So I'm curious if there is a spread sheet or such that could point me in the right direction for what spring rates and oil I should start at for setting up the bike for my weight? I'm at 250 right now...6'2"...long torso.. I don't plan to hit the track anytime soon, I've just been told the stock suspension is too soft for my big ass...

Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance!

check the action on the return springs (i think you have those)
mine got caked with road grime. WD40 on the side AND center one...
my return action had STOPPED! and the cable had come off the cam, full throttle! Kill switches rock.

good luck on routing all the wires / hoses / etc. if you go new, measure measure measure measure and then measure, figure out everything

have you measured you rider sag?
I'd say between 2 to 3 steps stiffer for you depending what they are now and the numbers you come up with.
I usually install 1.05  on superbikes for your wheight, they come with 1.0 that'll be 1 step stiffer, but the come stiffer on stock trim also....
